On February 20, we remember the sacrifice of the Heavenly Hundred — over a 100 Ukrainians who lost their lives in the fight against the pro-russian government forces during the Euromaidan Revolution in Kyiv, Ukraine.

As the russian forces were rolling into Ukrainian territory, the people of Ukraine demonstrated resilience and European self-determination back in 2014.

What unfolded was the ousting of the pro-russian president Yanukovych, the occupation of Ukrainian peninsula Crimea, and the invasion of Donetsk and Luhansk regions by russia.

As Ukrainian resistance continues, we invite you to demonstrate solidarity with Ukrainians this February by attending your local events.

🟡 Show your support for Ukraine 🟡

February marks 12 years since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and 4 years of the full-scale war.

The past year has been one of the most challenging periods of the full-scale war, which is why we invite the local Ukrainian-Canadian community & our allies to a candlelight vigil.

On February 24, join us in commemorating Ukrainian resilience in the face of Russian imperialism. Together, we will honor the victims of aggression and Ukraine’s fallen heroes.

The vigil will take place in front of UBC Bookstore at 7 pm, with programming, light music and catering provided.

We encourage you to bring Ukrainian flags, yellow flowers, no-fire candles and posters. Let’s demonstrate our commitment to solidarity with Ukraine during such a crucial time.
