Meet Elisabeth White (Artsci’15) the Queen’s connects January 2023 alumni mentor. Originally from the Chicagoland area, Elisabeth moved to Canada to attend Queen’s with the hopes of working on the business side of the Canadian healthcare system.

After graduating from the Health Studies at Queen’s she started her career at RLDatix, a patient safety software company in Toronto. She remembers returning to Queen’s after winter break in 4th year and really feeling the stress of finding a job after graduation, and would be happy to talk to students that are graduating soon about how to get your foot in the door for your first professional position.

After working in Toronto for a few years, Elisabeth was accepted into the Master’s of Health Administration (MHA) program at UBC and moved with her partner and two cats to beautiful British Columbia. Throughout her masters, she worked full time at Fraser Health conducting quality reviews on patient complaints (hearing it all!) Even though this job was emotionally taxing, it helped to gain a system level perspective that really helped in her master’s program. If anyone is interested in pursuing a degree while working full time, Elisabeth would be happy to share her experience.

Currently, she works at Doctors of BC in physician advocacy, economics and negotiations. Her days are spent helping physicians through disciplinary matters and contractual disputes. In her free time, Elisabeth enjoys curling, hiking and skiing and is currently the President of the Vancouver Queen’s Alumni Association.

Please don’t be shy in reaching out about all things healthcare - it's a pivotal moment in Canada.
