Innovation grows when youth are given the right opportunities.

Through the CANConnect Micro-Grant, Aditya Lumb, founder of LabPath, hosted a two-day research hackathon at the University of Toronto Mississauga, engaging 300 students in hands-on research and innovation.

From developing research ideas to being published in an undergraduate journal, participants gained real-world experience and confidence as emerging researchers.

At GLOCAL, we’re proud to support youth-led initiatives that expand access and turn ideas into meaningful impact.

At GLOCAL, we are proud to support youth-led initiatives that create meaningful impact in communities across Canada. 💙

Through the Dancing for Nunavut project, the Indigenous Dance Foundation is empowering youth with opportunities to explore movement, build confidence, and express themselves through dance.

From weekly programming to diverse dance styles and creative activities, this initiative is creating safe, engaging spaces for youth—especially in communities with limited access to such opportunities.

This is what impact looks like.

Join us today (March 13) as Shirelle Cogan (Staff Lawyer at ARCH Law Disability Centre) offers a session on what it means to be accommodated at work and at school, and how individuals can request accommodations in these settings. We’ll also discuss disability discrimination, with practical examples and case studies that demonstrate how human rights law applies in employment and education.

Topics include:
✔️ Where human rights law in Ontario comes from, including the Ontario Human Rights Code
✔️ Understanding the duty to accommodate and how to request accommodations
✔️ Recognizing and addressing disability discrimination

Looking forward to an important conversation on creating more inclusive workplaces and learning environments.

We were honoured to speak with Senator Paulette Senior about how her lived experiences have shaped her public leadership journey this afternoon at Convergence 2026, the annual general meeting of the Black Undergraduate Coalition of Canada, supported by GLOCAL Foundation of Canada.

Conference delegates heard the Senator reflect on her early career working in community spaces, her path through national leadership roles, and the decisions that ultimately led her to the Senate of Canada. The conversation created a powerful moment of intergenerational dialogue, encouraging students to think beyond immediate milestones and to consider the long arc of civic contribution and service.
