Langley K-Food Festival is coming to Willoughby Community Park by the Langley Events Centre on June 6 and 7, 2026.

Hosted by Korean Society of BC and organized by Korean Cultural Heritage Society and OKTA Vancouver, this free community festival will feature Korean food, live performances, and activities for all ages.

The festival is planned as a welcoming celebration where the Korean community and the wider public can come together to enjoy Korean culture, food, and community spirit.

Ceremony on June 6 at 2PM

2026년 3월 1일, BC밴쿠버한인회(KSBC)는 한인신협 코퀴틀람 본점 컨퍼런스룸(Conference Room)에서 제107주년 3.1절 기념식을 진행했습니다. 이번 행사는 독립운동의 숭고한 의미를 함께 되새기고, 차세대와 함께 3.1정신을 이어가는 자리로 마련됐습니다.

청소년문화사절단 단원들의 상징적 재현으로 행사가 시작됐습니다. 단원들은 “대한독립만세”를 힘차게 외치며 1919년의 함성을 떠올리게 했고, 현장에 함께한 참석자들도 한마음으로 만세를 외치며 선열들의 뜻을 기렸습니다. 이어 국민의례와 함께 6.25 참전 유공자회 서정길 부회장의 독립선언문 낭독이 진행되며, 독립을 향한 결의와 정신을 다시 한 번 마음에 새기는 시간이 이어졌습니다.

장영재 부총영사는 대통령 기념사를 대독하며 독립의 가치와 자유의 의미를 전했습니다. 연아 마틴 상원의원은 기념사를 통해 자유를 지키려는 정신을 언급하며, 한국의 독립을 도운 캐나다인들의 헌신도 함께 조명했습니다. 피터 줄리앙 전 하원의원, 최병하 주의원(무역차관), 스티브 김 코퀴틀람 시의원, 석광익 한인신협 전무 등도 참석해 역사적 기억과 세대 간 연대의 중요성을 전했습니다.

박경준 회장은 인사말을 통해 한인사회가 이어온 공동체의 가치와 어르신들의 삶이 오늘의 한인사회를 지탱해 온 소중한 토대임을 언급하며, 한인회가 앞으로도 지역 단체들과 협력해 세대와 공동체를 잇는 활동을 꾸준히 이어가겠다는 뜻을 밝혔습니다.

SUCCESS 헬프라인 24주년 기념행사 🤝

1월 5일, 밴쿠버 다운타운에서 SUCCESS 헬프라인 서비스 출범 24주년 기념행사가 열렸습니다. 위기 상담과 정신건강 지원을 포함해 지난 24년간 지역사회에 제공해 온 헬프라인의 역할을 돌아보는 뜻깊은 자리였습니다.

이날 행사에는 약 200여 명이 참석했으며, 연아 마틴 상원의원, 최병하 BC주 MLA, 장영재 부총영사 등 지역사회 주요 인사들도 함께해 축하와 격려의 메시지를 전했습니다. BC밴쿠버한인회 박경준 회장도 참석해, 이민자 커뮤니티를 위한 지원 서비스의 중요성과 기관 간 협력의 가치를 함께 나눴습니다.

행사에서는 우크라이나 오케스트라 연주와 중국 및 한국 전통 무용 등 다문화 공연이 이어졌고, 헬프라인 운영을 뒷받침해 온 자원봉사자들에 대한 감사 시상도 진행되며 현장의 분위기를 더욱 따뜻하게 했습니다.

SUCCESS Helpline 24th Anniversary Celebration 🤝

On January 5, SUCCESS marked the 24th anniversary of its Helpline service with a special celebration in downtown Vancouver. It was a meaningful moment to recognize the Helpline’s long standing role in crisis counselling, mental health support, and settlement related assistance for our community.

Around 200 guests attended, including Senator Yonah Martin, MLA Paul Choi, and Acting Consul General Youngjae Jang, who shared messages of appreciation and encouragement. Korean Society of BC President June Park also attended, highlighting the importance of strong community support systems and ongoing collaboration across organizations.

The program featured multicultural performances, including a Ukrainian orchestra and traditional Chinese and Korean dance, along with an awards segment recognizing the dedicated volunteers who have supported the Helpline over the years.

1월 24일 밴쿠버 한인문화협회가 버나비 Riverway Clubhouse에서 행사를 열고 신임 임원진 출범과 함께 향후 비전을 공유했습니다. 행사는 국기에 대한 경례와 양국 국가 제창, 그리고 순국선열과 호국영령을 기리는 묵념으로 시작되며 의미를 더했습니다.

이민경 회장은 그동안 협회를 이끌어온 전임 임원진과 자원봉사자들에게 감사를 전하고, 앞으로 한국문화의 가치를 지역사회에 더 넓게 알리며 세대가 함께 참여하는 건강한 문화 공동체를 만들어가겠다는 방향을 밝혔습니다.

Vancouver Korean Cultural Society Inauguration and Launch of the New Executive Team 🎉

The Vancouver Korean Cultural Society held an event at the Riverway Clubhouse in Burnaby to mark the launch of its new executive team and to share its vision for the years ahead. The program opened with national anthems of Korea and Canada, followed by a moment of remembrance, setting a respectful tone for the evening.

President Minkyoung Lee expressed appreciation to past leaders and volunteers who have supported the Society over the years, and shared a clear direction moving forward: expanding Korean cultural engagement across the broader community and creating more opportunities for multi generational participation.

Guests included Acting Consul General Youngjae Jang, Minister Anne Kang, Mayor Mike Hurley, and MLA Paul Choi, along with a video message from Senator Yonah Martin. Korean Society of BC President June Park also attended to congratulate the Society on its new chapter and to reaffirm continued community collaboration through cultural exchange.

Vancouver Korean Senior Society 2026 New Year Tteokguk Celebration 🥣🎉

On February 11, Korean Society of BC President June Park attended the Vancouver Korean Senior Society’s 2026 New Year Tteokguk Celebration at the Coquitlam Legion and shared remarks in celebration of the Lunar New Year. Nearly 200 guests gathered to exchange New Year wishes and enjoy a warm community atmosphere.

President June Park noted the significance of celebrating together following the MOU signed with the Senior Society last September, and recognized the Senior Society as a long standing cornerstone of the Korean community. He also reaffirmed the Korean Society of BC’s commitment to continued connection and collaboration with seniors in our community.

Guests enjoyed tteokguk and a shared meal, followed by singing, games, and a raffle that added to the festive spirit. Thank you to the Vancouver Korean Senior Society for the invitation, and wishing everyone a happy and healthy New Year. 🙏

밴쿠버 한인회관 현장 점검 방문 🏛️

2월 3일, BC밴쿠버한인회는 이사진 및 임원진과 함께 밴쿠버 한인회관을 방문해 현재 시설 상태를 현장에서 점검했습니다. 회관 운영이 장기간 중단된 상황에서 현 상태를 정확히 확인하고, 복구를 위한 현실적인 선택지와 우선 과제를 정리하기 위한 방문이었습니다.

이번 점검에는 건축, 전기, 설비, 리노베이션 분야에 전문성을 갖춘 이사진 및 임원진도 함께 참여해 내부와 설비 전반을 세부적으로 확인했습니다. 전기 및 배관 상태, 천장과 내부 마감 손상 구간 등 주요 문제 지점을 중심으로 점검이 진행됐으며, 앞으로 필요한 정밀 진단과 보수 범위 산정을 위한 기초 정리도 함께 이루어졌습니다.

한인회관은 2023년 6월 25일 화재 이후 일부 보수 작업이 진행되어 급한 지붕 하부 및 외벽 보수는 완료되었으나, 내부 보수는 본격적으로 진행되지 못한 상태입니다. 현재 상태로는 보험 적용이 어려워, 전면적인 보수가 이루어지지 않는 이상 정상적인 운영이 불가능한 상황입니다.

BC밴쿠버한인회는 이번 현장 점검을 바탕으로, 복구에 필요한 보수 범위와 우선순위를 객관적으로 정리하고 관련 검토를 단계적으로 진행할 계획입니다. 한인회관이 다시 지역사회가 함께 찾을 수 있는 공간으로 이어질 수 있도록 차근히 준비해 나가겠습니다.

Vancouver Korean Community Centre Site Inspection 🏛️

On February 3, the Korean Society of BC board members and executives visited the Vancouver Korean Community Centre to assess its current condition. The visit was intended to evaluate realistic recovery options and determine the next steps following the prolonged closure of the facility.

Board members with expertise in construction, electrical systems, plumbing, and renovations participated in the inspection, carefully reviewing the building’s interior condition and core infrastructure. Key areas such as electrical wiring, plumbing systems, ceiling damage, and overall structural concerns were examined to establish a clearer understanding of the scope and priority of repairs required.

While urgent roof and exterior repairs were completed following the June 25, 2023 fire, interior restoration has not yet been undertaken. In its current condition, the building does not meet the requirements for insurance coverage, making full-scale repairs necessary before operations can resume.

Based on this inspection, the Korean Society of BC will continue to review practical recovery options and outline a structured path forward. Our goal remains to restore the Community Centre as a space that once again serves and brings together the local Korean community.

설맞이 떡국 나눔 행사 🥣🌸

설을 맞아 밴쿠버 지역 여성 단체들이 한자리에 뜻을 모아 어르신들과 따뜻한 시간을 나누었습니다. 무궁화 여성회, KOWIN Vancouver, 밴쿠버 여성회가 함께 준비한 이번 행사에는 BC밴쿠버한인회도 후원으로 함께하며 명절의 의미를 공동체 안에서 나누는 자리가 되었습니다.

현장에서는 정성껏 준비한 설 음식과 떡국을 대접하며 새해 인사를 전했고, 서로의 안부를 나누는 정겨운 분위기가 이어졌습니다. 연아 마틴 상원의원과 오유순 무궁화재단 이사장도 함께해 자리에 의미를 더했습니다.

BC밴쿠버한인회 박경준 회장도 참석해 어르신들께 인사를 전하며, 지역 단체들과의 협력을 바탕으로 세대가 이어지는 공동체 활동을 꾸준히 이어가겠다는 뜻을 전했습니다. 식사 후에는 Amenida Senior House에서 준비한 디저트가 제공되어 따뜻한 마무리를 더했습니다.

Lunar New Year Tteokguk Sharing 🥣🌸

To welcome the Lunar New Year, several women’s organizations in Vancouver came together to host a warm gathering for local seniors. The event was prepared by Mugunghwa Women’s Association, KOWIN Vancouver, and the Vancouver Women’s Association, with support from the Korean Society of BC, creating a meaningful space to share food, greetings, and community spirit.

Guests enjoyed traditional holiday dishes and a comforting bowl of tteokguk while exchanging New Year wishes in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Senator Yonah Martin and Yoosoon Oh of the Mugunghwa Foundation also joined, adding to the significance of the occasion.

Korean Society of BC President June Park attended to greet the seniors and reaffirmed the Society’s commitment to working with community partners to continue intergenerational initiatives. Dessert prepared by Amenida Senior House was also served to wrap up the gathering on a sweet note.

KCYAS 아메니다 봉사활동 🤝✨

12월 6일, KCYAS 6기 멤버들이 Amenida Seniors Community를 찾아 어르신들과 따뜻한 시간을 나누었습니다.
직접 준비한 공연과 작은 선물로 마음을 전하며, 세대가 자연스럽게 이어지는 의미 있는 하루가 되었습니다.

이번 활동은 재외동포청과 주밴쿠버총영사관의 지원으로 진행되었으며,
박경준 BC밴쿠버한인회장도 현장을 방문해 청소년들을 격려하며 함께했습니다.
청소년들이 지역사회를 위해 주도적으로 활동하는 모습에 큰 응원이 이어졌습니다.

The students prepared performances and small gifts, creating a heartfelt moment of connection across generations.

The program was supported by the Overseas Koreans Agency and the Consulate General of Korea in Vancouver.
BC Korean Society President June Park also visited the site to encourage the students and share in the spirit of the day, recognizing their leadership and commitment to community service.

12월 5일, 팬퍼시픽 호텔에서 민주평통 밴쿠버협의회 제22기 출범식과 정기총회가 열렸습니다.
견종호 총영사, 연아 마틴 상원의원, 최병하 주의원을 비롯해 여러 단체장들이 참석해 협의회의 새로운 출발을 함께했습니다.

신태용 신임 회장은 소통과 봉사를 중심으로 한 운영 방향과 차세대 참여 확대의 중요성을 강조했고,
이어 임명장 수여, 축사, 그리고 아브람 아고브 교수의 강연이 진행되며 다양한 의견이 공유되었습니다.

행사 후에는 청년분과위원회 좌담회와 송년 모임이 이어져
올해 활동을 돌아보는 의미 있는 시간이 되었습니다.

22nd Term Launch of the Vancouver Chapter of the National Unification Advisory Council 🇰🇷

On December 5, the Vancouver Chapter of the National Unification Advisory Council held its 22nd-term inauguration and general meeting at the Pan Pacific Hotel.
Consul General Jongho Kyun, Senator Yonah Martin, MLA Paul Choi, and leaders from various community organizations attended to mark the beginning of the new term.

Incoming Chair Taeyong Shin emphasized communication, service-oriented leadership, and expanding opportunities for the next generation.
The program continued with appointment certificate presentations, congratulatory remarks, and a lecture by Professor Abram Agov, offering diverse perspectives on peace and inter-Korean affairs.

Following the main program, the Youth Committee hosted a discussion session and year-end gathering,
providing a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the year’s activities and future initiatives.
