For many years, Emmanuel relied only on agriculture to support his family. Although he worked hard, he often spent much of his income on alcohol and rarely thought about saving or planning. His focus was on getting through each day, and he struggled to provide school fees and other essentials for his two children.

Everything began to change when he joined Business Development training. Curious to learn more, he participated in the training, where he was introduced to concepts such as goal setting, saving, and investing. For the first time, he began to see the importance of planning ahead and making intentional financial decisions.

Emmanuel had never created a financial plan before, but with guidance from Kinvest trainers, he learned how to set realistic goals and work toward achieving them. Inspired by the training, he decided to start a beekeeping business as an additional source of income.

The habit of saving also transformed his perspective. He now saves on weekly through ABCD group saving Group at the same time. Money that was once spent on alcohol is now being saved and invested in activities that strengthen his family's future. Through regular discussions and shared learning within the group, he has developed a new mindset focused on investment, education, and long-term growth.

Today, He has gained hope for the future, started a new business, and is making plans to better support his children and strengthen his family's wellbeing. Through Business Leadership Development, Kinvest is helping families develop financial discipline, build sustainable livelihoods, and create pathways toward long-term prosperity.

A New Milestone for Entrepreneurs in Gashora!

Last week, 15 entrepreneurs in Gashora celebrated the completion of the second level of the Business Leader Development Program, marking an important milestone in their business and leadership journey.

Implemented in partnership with GIZ and Machinery Ring, the program equipped participants with practical skills in business planning, savings, investment, and business management. Through the next level of training, they strengthened their leadership skills and applied their learning to real business decisions.

Their graduation marks not only the completion of a training program, but a step toward building stronger, more sustainable businesses and creating greater opportunities for their families and communities.

Kinvest Impact is becoming fully electric!

The transition is underway. Over the past years, Tujyane has been converting its three-wheeled motorcycles from gasoline to electric. We are now converting the remaining gasoline-powered tricycles, bringing us closer to a fully electric Tujyane fleet.

For Kinvest Impact, this is more than changing how our tricycles are powered. It is part of our commitment to finding practical and sustainable solutions for the rural communities we serve.

Through Tujyane, our electric transportation service connects rural villages to vital markets, helping farmers and local businesses move goods 4x faster and at a third of the cost.

As we transition to electric, we are reducing our reliance on gasoline and moving toward a cleaner and more sustainable way of transporting agricultural produce and connecting rural communities to markets.

For the communities we serve, this means faster movement of goods, lower transportation costs, continued access to markets, and a cleaner transport solution that supports local businesses and rural economies.

We are not just changing how we move. We are building a more sustainable way forward for the communities we serve.

Having access to clean water nearby makes a difference in a student’s daily life. With water closer to home, there is less time spent fetching water and more time for studying, attending school, and enjoying childhood.

“Now my business is growing,” says Emille, a local drink producer whose business has benefited from access to a Kinvest water point.

Before the water point was established, one of the biggest challenges Emile faced was maintaining the quality of his product due to lack of clean water in the neighborhood. Like many people in the community, he relied on water that was often scarce, expensive, and not always clean. Accessing water required long journeys that could take up to three hours by bicycle.

The high cost of water also placed a burden on his business. Since brewing requires large quantities of water, the expense reduced his ability to grow and improve his operations. Everything changed when Kinvest Impact Foundation established a water point in Gasima village, according to him. At first, Emile expected the water to be expensive, but he was surprised to find that clean water was available at an affordable price. More importantly, the water point was located only a few minutes away from his business.

Emile can now access clean water in just three minutes. The time he once spent collecting water is now invested in improving production, serving customers, and expanding his business. As a result, customer satisfaction increased. Orders that were once difficult to fulfill have become manageable because he now has reliable access to the water needed for production.

Through expanding access to clean and affordable water, Kinvest is helping entrepreneurs strengthen their businesses, increase incomes, and build more resilient communities.

“Investment starts when fear stops.” Hakizimana.

For Hakizimana, a community leader in Nyenyeri, this became more than a lesson. It became a new way of seeing his income, his future, and the opportunities around him.

Before the Nyenyeri Hub, most people depended mainly on farming. As the hub developed, new businesses began taking shape, creating more opportunities for people in the community. Hakizimana first earned income through construction work at the hub. He later joined financial literacy and entrepreneurship training, where he learned to look at his income differently.

“The skills I gained from the training made me realize that investment starts when fear stops.” He began putting part of his farming income into investment and eventually opened his own shop, creating an additional source of income for his family.

Today, Hakizimana is more intentional about his goals. He seeks information, asks questions, and uses what he learns to strengthen his own livelihood and contribute to his community.

His story shows how access to opportunity, combined with practical skills and the confidence to act, can open new paths for people and their communities. Meet Twiteze Imbere Saving Group formed in 2025 after graduating from Kinvest’s Business Leader Development Program, Twiteze Imbere Saving Group is turning lessons on saving and financial management into action.

As farmers, members wanted to find practical ways to manage their money and invest more consistently in their farms. Through their training, they learned how to save together, access loans, and use the Gwiza savings app to manage their contributions digitally.

At first, using digital savings was new to the group. With support from Kinvest trainers, members gradually gained confidence using the app and could track their savings from their phones, without needing to meet every day.

Today, the group follows clear saving and lending guidelines, with members able to borrow up to three times their savings. The funds are helping members buy seeds on time and strengthen their farming activities.

For Twiteze Imbere, saving has become more than putting money aside. It is helping members plan ahead, invest in their farms, and build a stronger financial future together.

From learning to saving, and from saving to investing, Twiteze Imbere is putting business leadership into practice.

In partnership with GIZ and Machiery Ring, we celebrated the graduation of the second cohort of the Business Development training program in Gashora.

Last week, 40 entrepreneurs in Gashora, Bugesera, successfully completed a transformative seven-week training journey. Throughout the program, participants strengthened their knowledge and skills in business development, planning, savings, investment, and business management.

Beyond gaining knowledge, participants were encouraged to put their learning into practice and develop the habits, confidence, and mindset needed to build stronger businesses and pursue sustainable growth. One of the key outcomes of the training was the formation of two savings groups, with participants also embracing digital savings as a tool to strengthen financial discipline, collaboration, and resilience.

Following the completion of the program, 15 participants progressed to the next level, where they will continue their leadership and business development journey.

"Now I know how to invest, and I make decisions with calculations," says Beatrice, a graduate of Kinvest Business Leader Development Program.

Before joining the Business Leader Development training, Beatrice had no financial management skills. She did not know the importance of saving, setting financial goals, or making informed investment decisions. Although some of her neighbors encouraged her to join savings groups, she did not understand how working together could improve her family's future.

Through the Business Leader Development Program, Beatrice gained practical skills in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, goal setting, and leadership. As a member of an ABCD Group, she learned to save consistently, plan, and make informed financial decisions with confidence.

Inspired by the program, Beatrice set a goal of starting a poultry business and successfully turned that vision into reality. Today, she earns additional income, provides more effectively for her family, maintains health insurance, and plans with confidence.

Beatrice's journey reflects how practical skills, a growth mindset, and community support can help families build sustainable livelihoods and create lasting change.
