Exciting news from Kinvest Impact Foundation!

We are excited to announce the rehabilitation of our 8th Kinvest Impact Foundation water point, bringing sustainable access to clean and reliable water to the Akayange community.

This water system is powered by solar energy and sources underground water from a borehole reaching 87 meters deep. Water will be pumped over a distance of 700 meters to the Akayange Market Hub water point, ensuring easy access for the surrounding community.

Once completed, the water point is expected to provide 30–40 m³ of safe water daily, serving approximately 2,050 community members.

This project represents continued commitment to improving livelihoods by increasing access to essential services, saving families time, improving health, and supporting stronger, more resilient communities.

"Now I can sell comfortably and for as long as I need," Alice explains. "The electricity allows me to continue serving customers even when daylight fades, and I no longer worry about the safety of my products."

For years, Alice worked hard to earn a living selling foodstuffs, but running her business was a daily struggle. Without a permanent place to operate, she moved from one location to another, often displaying her goods on the ground. This exposed her products to harsh weather conditions, reduced customers' confidence in their quality, and left her constantly worried about theft because she had no secure place to store her goods.

Gatebe solar-powered market hub provided what she had long been missing a safe, affordable, and reliable place to do business. With access to secure commercial space, electricity, and a recognized business address, Alice no longer has to transport her goods back and forth every day. Her customers know exactly where to find her, helping her build trust and strengthen relationships within the community.

The impact extends far beyond her business. With a more stable income, Alice is able to provide for her family's needs and maintain health insurance coverage. She has also developed a habit of saving every week, with a clear goal of expanding her business in the future.

Inspired by the progress she has seen among entrepreneurs who have completed Kinvest's Business Leader Development Program training she hopes to join an upcoming cohort. She believes the training will equip her with the skills, knowledge, and network needed to take her business to the next level.

By providing entrepreneurs with access to secure commercial spaces, renewable energy, and opportunities for leadership development, Kinvest is helping rural business owners build stronger businesses, create economic resilience, and move closer to a future where village life flourishes in abundance.

World Food Safety Day!

Today, on World Food Safety Day, we recognize that safe food is the foundation of healthy communities, thriving businesses, and sustainable development.

At Kinvest Impact Foundation, we believe that access to safe, quality food begins with strong local systems. Through our covered market hubs, agricultural initiatives, and business development programs, we help create environments where farmers, traders, and entrepreneurs can store, handle, and sell food more safely and efficiently.

As we work alongside local entrepreneurs and farmers across Rwanda, we remain committed to promoting practices that support food quality, market access, and economic opportunity for all.

Together, we can build communities where safe food nourishes both people and prosperity.

“Now I can provide for my family and pay school fees for my kids,” says Mugwaneza Chantal, A vendor at Gatebe solar-powered market hub.

For more than two years, Chantal earned a living selling bananas in her village. Without a permanent place to do business, she moved from one location to another and often struggled to find a reliable market. The uncertainty made it difficult to grow her business, and she relied on both banana trading and agriculture to support her family.

Things changed when Kinvest Impact Foundation established the Gatebe Solar-powered market Hub. Today, Chantal has a safe and affordable space to operate her business, store her products, and serve customers from a known location. “Now I have a place where people can find me, and I can continue working even in the evening because we have electricity,” she says.

With greater stability in her business, Chantal is able to meet her family’s needs, pay school fees for her children, and continue building a better future. Through helping entrepreneurs with secure commercial space and reliable renewable energy, Kinvest is helping rural business owners create stronger and more resilient livelihoods.

People selling in open air markets wake up early and work hard exposed to sun, rain, dust, and uncertainty. Every day means a risk for their goods, their health, and their income.

But change is possible! In a covered market, the same traders work with protected stalls, proper roofing, electricity, and a stable space where customers can return every day. Sales improve. Goods are safe. Business becomes predictable. This is not just infrastructure. It is protection for livelihoods.

Happy World Bee Day!

Bee together for people and the planet a partnership that sustains us all.
Today we join the world in celebrating World Bee Day, a reminder of the essential role bees and other pollinators play in sustaining life, food systems, and biodiversity. As bee populations face growing challenges, this day calls us to protect and strengthen their habitats and recognize their value in both nature and livelihoods.

At Kinvest Impact Foundation, we are proud of our ABCD group of beekeepers from Gatebe, who have partnered with Kinvest Farm to support a passion fruit farming initiative by improving pollination through the relocation of 30 hives. The result has been a strong boost in crop pollination and a successful honey harvest at the farm a true win-win for people, bees, and the environment.

This collaboration continues to show how community-led solutions can strengthen agriculture, improve yields, and create sustainable livelihoods.

“Before, I was always worried about theft, rain, and carrying my goods every day. Now I can focus on growing my business.” Alphonsine.

For two years, Alphonsine has worked hard selling clothes and kitchen materials in Akayange. But life in the open-air market was not easy. Every morning and evening meant transporting her stock back and forth, facing weather changes, security risks, and extra transport costs.

Since joining the Akayange Market Hub a year ago, things have changed. She now has a secure place for her business, access to electricity, and the freedom to stock more products without worrying about carrying them daily. The money she once spent on transport now helps her support her family and pay school fees for her children.

As a graduate of the Business Leader Development Training, Alphonsine says the program changed the way she thinks and runs her business. Today, she sees a big difference in her profitability and dreams of seeing more remote communities experience the same transformation through Kinvest.

Last week, Kinvest Impact Foundation participated in the Ignite Challenge 4.0 Bootcamp organized by in partnership with the Embassy in Rwanda, , and the World Food Programme .

The theme of this year’s challenge was Innovation for Stronger Food Systems and Job Creation. Out of more than 240 ventures that applied, 11 ventures were selected to join the bootcamp, where participants received training and coaching from experts in storytelling, leadership, sales, and pitch readiness.

Kinvest pitched on Cold Chain Aggregation and Logistics, highlighting practical solutions that strengthen food systems, reduce post-harvest losses, and improve market access for farmers and communities.

We are grateful for the opportunity to learn, connect, and share our vision alongside other innovative ventures working toward stronger and more resilient communities.

“Before, I worried about the weather and my goods but now I focus on growing my business.” Yvonne.

When Yvonne started her small business selling foodstuffs and body care products, she worked in an open-air market. Every day came with challenges of unpredictable weather, constant movement of goods, and the stress of possible losses due to those challenges. Each morning and evening meant extra transport costs just to move her products back and forth, eating into her profits.

Everything changed when she joined Akayange Market Hub nearly a year ago. At first, Yvonne expected more of the same routine packing up her goods daily and worrying about their safety. Instead, she discovered something different. A secure space where she could safely store her products, protected from theft, rain, and harsh sunlight. For the first time, she didn’t have to carry her business on her back every day.

With electricity available at the hub, her working hours are no longer limited by daylight. She can serve customers comfortably and consistently, regardless of the weather. This stability has transformed her business no more losses due to damaged goods, and no more unnecessary transport expenses. What she once spent on daily transport is now redirected into growing her business and supporting her needs.

“The losses I used to face because of the weather are gone,” she shares. “Now, I can sell freely and focus on growing.” Looking ahead, she dreams of owning her own retail shop, a goal that now feels within reach. Inspired by others around her, she plans to join the Business Leader Development Program, believing it will equip her with the skills to take her business even further.

Yvonne also hopes that more rural communities can experience what she has found as a safe, supportive market hub combined with training opportunities that truly transform lives.

Happy International Labour Day!

Today, on International Labour Day, we celebrate the hard work, resilience, and dedication of the people who keep our communities moving.

At Kinvest Impact Foundation, we see this every day in farmers who wake up early to provide for their families, in entrepreneurs building their businesses step by step, and in teams working together to create opportunities where they’re needed most.

Work is more than a source of income. It’s dignity, growth, and the foundation for stronger communities.

We’re proud to walk alongside those who are creating impact through their work, and we remain committed to supporting journeys that lead to lasting change.
