Our 6th non-partisan advocacy meeting brought in TEAM for a Livable Vancouver’s Colleen Hardwick, Patrick Sauriol, Josh Gordon, and Stephen Mikicich. Our discussion featured a dual focus on how to both retain our legacy small businesses and make Vancouver a more attractive location for future entrepreneurs, including ideas like alternative tax classes and small business councils to directly inform on policies at city hall.

We were pleased to welcome the Green Party of Vancouver’s team including Pete Fry, Stephanie Smith, Camil Dumont, Bridget Burns, Tom Digby, Breanne Smart, and Julie Strilesky to another small business policy discussion.

We’re seeing a lot of passion and good ideas at these meets. We particularly liked the ideas to tackle the number of regulations that slow down approvals and for a small business navigator to provide an individual contact at City Hall who'd help guide businesses through mandatory processes.

OneCity’s team Lucy Maloney, Frances Bula, Iona Bonamis, Jarrett Hagglund, and Caitlin Stockwell joined us at our office for our fourth non-partisan policy meeting. Our discussion included plans to take concrete steps to creating a culture of yes at city hall that works with, not against, small businesses.

Another great discussion of small business policy at SBV’s office. Our third non-partisan meeting welcomed the Vancouver Liberal’s Kareem Allam and Armor Valor. We are very pleased to see each party including policies in their platform to bring real support to small businesses in Vancouver. Mayoral Nominee Kareem intends to review Vancouver's 130+ years of business regulation to remove conflicting and outdated bylaws to improve interpretation and standardize application.

We are delighted to have welcomed the Vote Vancouver team including Rebecca Bligh, Rebecca Hasdell, Steve Jedreicich, Keerit Jutla, Geoff Teoli, and Stephen Menon to our second non-partisan advocacy meeting. We discussed their party’s small business platform and were pleased to see a small business concierge service in their platform providing a centralised location for small businesses to access support.

We were very pleased to start SBV’s non-partisan advocacy by meeting with COPE and their candidates: Stephanie Allen and Sean Orr. We enjoyed our discussion recognising how important small businesses are to the backbone of our local economy and COPE’s idea of creating a small business office at City Hall.

This was the beginning of our series of meetings with candidates running in the upcoming 2026 Vancouver Municipal Election. Designed to be non-partisan opportunities to collaborate on key small business priorities, these meetings let parties present their platforms while SBV shares our policy recommendations developed with small business input.
