Celebrating 120 Years of Civic Leadership!

🌟On September 5, 2026, the Chinese Benevolent Association of Vancouver (CBA) marked its historic 120th Anniversary Dinner Gala.

This landmark event brought together community elders, corporate executives, government officials, and cheerful civic leaders who work tirelessly to help the many communities around the city to honor over a century of cultural, legal, and socio-economic impact—including the CBA's pioneering civil rights legacy that helped secure voting rights for Chinese Canadians in 1947.

On behalf of the NAAAP Vancouver Leadership Team, we extend our congratulations to the hard-working CBA team for an incredible evening.

We are deeply grateful for the warm welcome shown to our team leaders—Sue Au-Young, David Chu, and Jessica Chan—and our amazing NAAAP members, families, and friends: Jordan Tai, Frank Lee, Tina Hu, William Wu, Karen Reid-Sidhu, Michelle Cheong, Victor Kwan (with Eva and Stewart), Rob Nijjar and more...You guys rock!

We had an amazing time connecting and sharing joyful occasions with you all !

Special thanks also to CBA President Helen Qian, VP Frank Huang, Hank Tung & his wife Josie, Raymond Cheung, and Stephen Cheng for your invaluable support and intergenerational insights.

We champion community unity and strategic educational planning for the VanNextGen and the general public.

We have worked hard to earn trust & relationships. We are excited to build new opportunities, grow our membership, and expand our community impact and more...

On July 1st, NAAAP President Sue (Susan) Au-Young and James Chung joined top community leaders, cultural advocates, and civic executives at the prestigious Chinese Benevolent Association (CBA) VIP Invitational Celebrations.

It was an incredible opportunity to advance community engagement, foster cultural legacy, and strengthen professional networks across British Columbia. 🤝

A major highlight was connecting with the CBA executive leadership team, including President Helen Qian, VP Frank Huang, VP David Choi, and Office Manager Stephen Cheung.

We were also thrilled to collaborate with key dignitaries shaping BC's diverse future:🔹 Violet Chan (President, BC Diversity Association)🔹 Grace Wong (Board Member & Director of Finance, Chinese Canadian Museum)🔹 James Yip (Chung Ai Photographic Society)🔹 Ed Ko (BCIT International Immigration Advisor)🔹

Representatives from the Chinese Canadian Association From cultural preservation and international education to diversity advocacy, these cross-sector alliances are vital for empowering the next generation of leaders.

Here’s to building a stronger, more inclusive community together! 🚀 📸

A full house, strong conversations, and exactly the kind of energy that makes community grow.

NAAAP Vancouver’s Morning Network Mixer was a great success, hosted by President Susan Au-Young, with support from Board Directors Iven Tse and Margaret Lange.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a lively morning of networking, new introductions, and meaningful connection. We loved seeing the NAAAP spirit come to life around the room!

A wonderful evening at Taste of Asia, part of explorASIAN Festival’s 30th anniversary celebrations, in support of Vancouver Asian Heritage Month Society!

NAAAP Vancouver board directors Susan Au-Young and Vivian Ching along with fellow volunteers were glad to attend and support an event celebrating Asian culture, food, performance, and community connection.

It was also a pleasure to meet MLA Anne Kang of Burnaby Centre who is also the B.C. Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport, whose work closely aligns with NAAAP Vancouver’s commitment to cultural connection, community leadership, and cross-sector bridge-building.

Grateful for an evening of Asian culture, good conversations, and community support in Vancouver ❤️

Last night, NAAAP Vancouver board directors Susan Au-Young, Vivian Ching, Iven Tse, Stanley Lowe and Gary Ma joined the Vancouver Chinatown Lions Club to celebrate Mayor Ken Sim as their Medal of Merit recipient. 73 years in, the Lions Club remains a masterclass in what sustained community commitment looks like.

What stayed with the team was Mayor Sim’s genuine interest in our vision for NAAAP. His engagement was substantive and encouraging, and the kind of civic support that signals a city invested in its emerging leadership communities.

Gary deserves a special mention for holding the connective thread between both organisations as NAAAP Vancouver board director and VP of the Vancouver Chinatown Lions Club.

Vancouver’s professional and community networks are converging. NAAAP Vancouver intends to be at that intersection! ❤️🇨🇦

Lovely catch-up with our NAAAP Vancouver Board Directors Susan Au-Young and Vivian Ching, along with fellow volunteers, at the 4 x Michelin Bib Gourmand winning Anh and Chi, whose generous support as panel speaker and caterer helped make our launch event so special last week!

A great reminder that NAAAP is built through community, shared purpose, the people who keep showing up, and of course, really good food ✨🇨🇦🥢

A little dim sum, a little Chinatown history, and a lot of great cross-chapter energy ☀️ The NAAAP Vancouver Executive Team had a terrific time hosting NAAAP Toronto President Ben Hum in Vancouver last week, with traditional Chinese dim sum and a visit to local landmarks including a private tour of the iconic Jack Chow Insurance building in Chinatown, the world’s skinniest commercial building, with its owner Rod Chow. A fun and memorable weekend celebrating community, culture, and NAAAP unity across cities! 🇨🇦
