Kittiwake Snowmobile Association

Kittiwake Snowmobile Association Incorporated in 2001, the Kittiwake Snowmobile Association has taken pride in improving the rider experience along the Trail system within Bonavista North.

Kittiwake Snowmobile Association (KSA) is a non-profit group of snowmobilers and outdoor enthusiast, who work with like-minded cabin owners and organizations, to improve the NLSF trail system within our jurisdiction. Our unique Trail provides year-round access to riders, via ATV/Side by Side usage through non-snow months and snowmobile/track machines during the winter. Our volunteer group, in asso

ciation with other interested parties in the area and its partnership with the Newfoundland & Labrador Snowmobile Federation, aims to maintain and improve the overall Trail experience. KSA also educates the public on safety protocols, adding signage to the Trail for better transfer of information on our area, and various fundraising events throughout the year. KSA is operated by a Board of Directors, with an Executive consisting of Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary. Board Members and volunteers are always welcome to join the KSA. In order to become a Member, you must purchase a Trail Pass via the Newfoundland & Labrador Snowmobile Federation, and indicate your area of ridership to be the Kittiwake Snowmobile Association.

Donation Made to KSA by Hibernia Q1 Charity

Recently, the cheque presentation was made by members of Hibernia to the Club. A donation of $10,000 was made to continue our trail work this season! Culverts, gravel, ditching, and other work will be done with this donation, along with funds already raised and our continued fundraising efforts.

Special thanks to the campaigners on the Hibernia rig to have the KSA as the recipient of this donation: Todd Burry, Gerald Burry, and Ryan Burry from the NWV area. People with ties to the CWT area include Jon Pickett and Andrew Pickett.

The KSA greatly appreciate this donation and the recognition of our continued efforts to improve the riding experience of all users of our trail system, no matter the time of year.

⚠️Open Water On Number Two Pond⚠️

Open water reported about a km and a bit from the Water Nipper Warmup Shelter with a couple bad spots that have opened up on the pond. Please use extreme caution in this area if you're traveling over it. Suspect other areas on other ponds in our area also showing cracks.

7:54am, Saturday, March 21st - End Of The Grooming Season Is Here

This Grooming Update Is Sponsored By:
- Shoppers Drug Mart Badger's Quay - Wesleyville
- Central Cycle & Recreation
- Kelly Ford Central NL

The groomer completed most of the eastern sections of the KSA Trail system overnight. Jamie did 37 Branch area, 32 Branch area, Greenspond Road area, and Valleyfield Branch area of the trail, plus Main Trail from Indian Bay through to the end of Valleyfield Branch. Groomer and drag are now in the shed for some R&R till next year. Northern Lights were dancing last night, too, with a couple images included below of that.

We would like to thank Jamie Oldford and Rodney Oldford for their work on the groomer this year and making our trails some of the best in the province! Thanks to the Newfoundland & Labrador Snowmobile Federation for their continued support! Thanks to our volunteers who have helped out on various projects! Thanks to our sponsors who help with our fundraising! Thanks to all of our supporters who purchase tickets for our draws and who buy trail passes each year from the NLSF! We had an "old fashion" winter this year, hopefully that'll continue for the 2027 season!

7:56am, Friday, March 20th - Last Western Run Completed

This Grooming Updated Sponsored By:

- Shoppers Drug Mart Badger's Quay - Wesleyville
- Carter's Dairy/Bakery/Deli Gas Bar
- Back Country Cottages

The groomer went west overnight for the last time this season (unless we gets a blizzard or something in the next week or so). Indian Bay through to Number Two (upper end) were completed, including area around Alley's Pond, Bear Cave, Number Two (lower end) and The Gate. Jamie did try to fix runoffs best he could, but still use extreme caution on all portions of the trail moving forward.

Tonight the groomer will head east and complete as much as possible, then be parked for the rest of the year in Valleyfield. We'll provide an update on that tomorrow morning.

❄️Snow Is Melting, Spring Is Almost Here!🌞

That time of year where runoff is occurring and starting to impact portions of the trail system. Water is now coming over the trail at Third Brook Bridge, plus water over the trail around Alley's Pond area and pass Bear Cave.

Basically, use extra caution from here on out if using any portion of the trail system!⚠️
