🐾 Little Lives, Big Battles… Sprinkled with some Seasonal Fun! 🎃

Rescue is filled with so many wonderful moments, but behind those happy endings are often weeks, sometimes months, of worry, veterinary appointments, medications and sleepless nights.

Lately, our little ones have been keeping us on our toes… and our critical care fund is feeling the strain.

Our sweet Josie and Jessie, who we believe are cousins, have been struggling with ongoing serious medical concerns involving their esophagus/disgestion. As we work to determine exactly what is happening with these little girls and determine the appropriate treatments, their kitten family of seven is also undergoing treatment for mycoplasma. Seven little lives, each deserving every chance at a healthy future.

Then there's our precious Reuben❤️

One of a trio of tiny survivors who, with the dedication and loving care of their foster mom Angie and family, beat the odds when life gave them a particularly difficult beginning.

Since birth, Reuben has struggled with ongoing eye issues. Today brought yet another veterinary visit, and next week our wee man is scheduled for a surgical procedure to assess his eyes and determine what type of corrective surgery is needed (entropic?) will be necessary to provide him with the new beginning he deserves.

And let's not forget our beautiful Momma Bellatrix and her babies. After battling mastitis, Bellatrix has thankfully recovered, while her little family has successfully overcome coccidia. Two more hurdles behind them!

Each of these little lives has a story. Each has faced challenges they never asked for. And each deserves the opportunity to grow, thrive and experience all the wonderful things that life has to offer.

Unfortunately, providing that opportunity comes at a cost. Our critical care fund has taken quite a hit, and with ongoing treatments, diagnostics and potential surgeries ahead, we could certainly use a little help replenishing it.

Tomorrow, we're bringing a little fun your way with a special fundraiser featuring some fabulous prizes! Our hope is to turn a little seasonal fun into something truly meaningful for the tiny paws depending on us.

We know we ask A LOT of our rescue community. We also know that none of what we do would be possible without the kindness, generosity and compassion of those who continue to stand beside us.

EIGHT PAWS, ONE FOREVER HOME! ❤️

Some of the most beautiful friendships are the ones we never see coming. We’d like to reintroduce Bruce and Stanley, two deserving souls whose journeys began separately but whose futures became magically intertwined. 🐾

Although we don’t know anything about his early months, Bruce began showing up at my property (and that of a neighbour), in search of food. The urgency of his situation increased after an injury to his leg made outdoor survival increasingly difficult. Having spent much of his life fending for himself, this handsome fella needed more than medical attention. He needed time, patience and the opportunity to discover that humans could be trusted.

Stanley's journey was equally challenging. Rescued from an at-risk colony, this sweet boy faced a life-threatening medical emergency shortly after arriving. Severely impacted intestines and an enlarged bladder required two procedures, followed by ongoing medication and plenty of TLC.

Although Bruce and Stanley had never met before joining our rescue family, something rather wonderful happened in foster care. They found each other 🫶🏻

For more than six months, these two boys have been healing, both physically and emotionally. Somewhere along the way, a beautiful friendship blossomed into an inseparable bond.

And now, the VERY BEST NEWS!

Last weekend, Bruce and Stanley found their forever family — TOGETHER❤️

No more uncertainty. No more struggling to survive. Just a lifetime of cozy beds, full tummies, gentle hands and, most importantly, each other.

Our heartfelt thanks to foster mom Trish and foster mom Susan, who both played a role in giving these boys the time, patience and love they needed to blossom. And to their wonderful new family, thank you for opening your hearts and home to not one, but two very deserving souls.

Happy forever, Bruce and Stanley. Your greatest chapter has only just begun. 📖 🖊️

🍂 A Thanksgiving Full of Gratitude 🧡🐾

As this Thanksgiving weekend comes to a close, we wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you who helped us replenish our pantry.

Keeping so many feline tummies filled, from our tiniest little floofers to our beloved seniors and colony cats, is no small undertaking. It is a responsibility we embrace wholeheartedly, but one we simply could not manage without the kindness and generosity of our extended rescue family.

Every bag of food, every tin of wet food, each donation and every thoughtful gesture makes a difference. Your generosity not only helps fill our shelves, but also provides us with the peace of mind that comes from knowing the many deserving lives in our care will continue to have full tummies.

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the things for which we are most grateful. For us, that includes the privilege of caring for these precious souls and the incredible people who make our work possible.

And what better way to wrap up this holiday weekend than with this wee face?❤️

This tiny little fellow may not understand the meaning of Thanksgiving, but thanks your kindness, he will grow up knowing the comforts of a full tummy, a warm bed and the gentle touch of loving hands.

Good morning from our newest addition 🐾

Found alone in a woodshed his finders waited all day for the return of a momma or signs of any other kittens. By late afternoon, they brought this little one inside for warmth.

Last evening, he joined foster mom Carolyn. Weighing in at 275 grams, he’s warm with a full tummy. Meanwhile, the property owners will continue to search for momma and any other siblings 🙏

Thankful Hearts & Hungry Tummies 🐾🍂

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, a time to reflect on the many blessings in our lives and the kindness of those who make a difference. ❤️

Here at BCC, we have so very much to be thankful for… including the wonderful community whose kindness makes it possible for us to continue enhancing so many deserving little lives. But while our hearts are overflowing with gratitude, our food cupboards seem to ALWAYS be a wee bit bare!

With 29 kittens, ranging from teeny bottle babies to rambunctious little floofers, a growing crew of juniors, our beloved adult kitties and the many colony cats who depend on us each and every day, there are an awful lot of hungry tummies to keep filled! And goodness gracious, can those little tummies eat!

From bottles of warm formula and bowls of kitten food to hearty meals for our adults and outdoor colony residents, keeping everyone well fed is one of our biggest ongoing expenses.

This Thanksgiving, we're reaching out to you, our extended rescue family, with a plea to help us fill the ‘kitty cornucopia’.

🎉 Happy Birthday to Mew! 🎉

Eight weeks ago, momma Bellatrix welcomed her last litter into the world… a quintet of adorable wee floofers who, quite literally, have been keeping everyone on their toes ever since.

Their journey hasn't exactly been an easy one, with a few ‘bumps’ along the way, most recently momma Bellatrix developing mastitis. Thankfully, with the amazing love and care of foster mom Emma and the support of our friends at the Animal Clinic of East Durham, we are delighted to share that both Bella and her five littles are doing marvellously!

It's hard to believe that eight weeks have already passed. Those tiny little bundles have blossomed into a rambunctious crew of curious, playful and oh-so-adorable kittens.

Later this month, everyone will be attending their spa days, after which they will be making their adoption debut at Pet Valu Courtice Commons, as they search for forever families of their very own. For now, there's still plenty of kitten mischief to be had and cuddles to enjoy.

Happy Birthday to Mew… Birdie, Basil, Bean, Billie and Bowie! 🎂

And a little extra love for sweet momma Bellatrix, who has done such a wonderful job raising her final five 🐾
