According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the to***co and ni****ne industry continues to reinvent and repackage its products to hook a new generation, particularly children and adolescents, while evading stronger to***co control measures worldwide.

While Heart & Stroke commends Health Canada for previous measures to address youth va**ng, including marketing and promotion restrictions, ni****ne caps and increases to the federal v**e excise tax, there’s still more to do. That’s why this World No To***co Day, Heart & Stroke is calling on the government, Marjorie Michel and Mark Carney, to further protect youth by banning v**e flavours.

Taken together, v**e flavour regulations and these earlier measures would strengthen national safeguards to reduce youth va**ng and protect young people from the significant harms of ni****ne addiction.

Over the next few years, Charlotte remained in active heart failure. Her heart simply wasn’t functioning well enough to keep her alive. Luckily, just before her third birthday she received her new heart.

Today, 6-year-old Charlotte is living life to the fullest. All thanks to Dr. Lori West’s research, and the generosity of a donor family.
