Barry & Amy Speck - Word of Life Fellowship Canada As Ontario Regional Coordinator, Barry oversees the ministries & staff of Word of Life Canada in ON. Amy serves as the Vibrant Travel Team Coordinator.

Barry and Amy have been missionaries with Word of Life Canada for 35 years. They have served in various roles and in various locations across Canada. Recently, Barry was commissioned to represent Word of Life Canada solely through youth ministry. This involves mentoring our interns in youth ministry, travelling with our Vibrant ministry team around Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes- ministering to

young people in youth groups and sharing the gospel. He also connects with pastors and youth pastors to see how Word of Life Canada can serve and partner with them to see more young people come to faith in Christ and take their "next step" with Jesus. She loves interacting with women of all ages and encouraging them in their walk with the Lord. She is an ACBC Certified Biblical Counsellor and loves using God's Word to help women navigate life struggles. Any opportunities she gets to share God's truth with women are like gifts to her. Barry grew up in foster care in Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia, and was saved at the age of 14 when his foster family sent him to a Christian camp. After high school, he knew he wanted to serve God in full-time ministry, so attended New Brunswick Bible Institute for three years to help equip him for this task. Barry graduated in 1988 and Barry & Amy were married in 1989. Having been saved as a teen, Barry had a real heart for youth, a fact that was made known to a Word of Life missionary serving in his local area. After meeting with this missionary and hearing about Word of Life Canada’s passion for reaching youth with the gospel, Barry & Amy felt God’s call to serve with Word of Life Canada. They attended Word of Life’s missionary in training school and were accepted as missionaries in July of 1989. Amy grew up in a Christian home in the state of Maine and accepted Christ as her Saviour at the age of five. As Amy grew, she attended summer missionary training through Child Evangelism Fellowship of Maine and there whet her appetite for full-time ministry as well. She also decided to attend New Brunswick Bible Institute where her one year of Bible study coincided with Barry’s senior year of study. Barry and Amy serve at Word of Life Canada in Owen Sound, Ontario. Their family includes Sam & Holland, Emma & James, Grace & Reagan and eight grandchildren. Life Verses:
(Barry) Psalm 27:10 "When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up." (Amy) Philippians 3:10 "That I may know Him, and the power of his resurrection, and may share His sufferings, becoming like Him in His is death".

Dear Friends-
It is with mixed emotions that we announce that Word of Life Canada has accepted our letter of resignation which means our last official day is December 31st, 2024.

After 35 years of serving as missionaries with Word of Life Canada, the time has come to close this chapter of our lives. It is a bittersweet time for us as we have enjoyed all the opportunities the Lord has given us to make friends all over Eastern Canada, Ontario and Maine, and partner in ministry with many of you. So many of you have supported us, prayed for us (and our family) and volunteered your time and energy at different events over the years. Again, all we can say is THANK YOU.

For the past 18 months or so, we have felt increasingly unsettled in our spirits about what we are doing ministry-wise and if it is sustainable for us physically, emotionally and spiritually moving forward. Our extremely busy travel schedule has left us unable to invest in our local church as much as we would like, and we find ourselves growing physically weary with the demands that a life being “on the road” for ministry brings. Because of these things, we have been praying about what God might have next for us as a couple. Right now, we still don’t know what that might be, but we are trusting the Lord to reveal His “next assignment” for us in His timing.

We covet your prayers as we begin this new adventure in 2025. Eternity will only show the impact all of you have had as you have partnered with us in this ministry.

Thank you for your faithful prayer & support over these past 35 years, may God be glorified!

Because of Him –
Barry & Amy Speck

Great time at Devon Park Baptist Church Youth Group!

WOLBI Takeover Night was a blast! 🔥

Big thanks to the WOLBI Vibrant Team for making it unforgettable at RENEW last night. We had a great time with archery tag (totally safe and wildly fun), an inspiring skit about the Good Shepherd, and a powerful devo on what our identity is as God's child. Couldn’t ask for a better night! And a special shoutout to Lily for making delicious cinnamon rolls! 🥮

A friendly reminder for those in grades 10-12: the Vibrant Team mentioned that WOLBI’s Campus Days are coming up! 😄 Whether you’re interested in a roadtrip to Owen Sound, Ontario to go to their in-person Campus Days (November 21-22), or to attend their online session (November 19th), it’s a fantastic way to explore more about their programme. Learn more at wolbi.ca/visit-us/ or email their team at [email protected] for details!

Looking forward to youth group next week, RENEW crew—see you there! 👀
