This is amazing. Thanks Mike Gallagher and the IUOE Local 793 for supporting Sean O'Meara

Local 793 Endorses Sean O’Meara for Oakville Mayor!

Announcing the endorsement, Local 793 Business Manager Mike Gallagher said, “Sean O’Meara has consistently proven that when he says he’ll get something done, he delivers.

“As a councillor, Sean was the driving force behind the new Wyecroft Road Bridge currently being built by Local 793 members – identifying the need for better cross-town connections and working tirelessly over years to secure the funding and get it built.

“That is exactly the kind of energetic leadership Oakville badly needs now and is why Local 793 has no hesitation in fully endorsing Sean O’Meara for mayor.”

Pictured with Sean at the recent Terry Fox run in Oakville are Business Manager Mike Gallagher and former Oakville North-Burlington MP Pam Damoff.

I am deeply saddened to learn that Marc Grant passed away. We served together on Oakville Council for five years, then collaborated for 10 years when I was MP. He cared deeply about Oakville and its parks, transit and people.

He adored his amazing daughter, Mackenzie, and his family. I know how close he and Mackenzie were - just recently he danced with her at her wedding.

I saw him on Canada Day at the Legion, quietly supporting the community with his family, as was his style.

My deepest sympathy to his family and friends. A huge loss for Oakville, but a bigger loss for those who loved him. May his memory be a blessing.

On this National Day Against Gun Violence, I reflect on the work that I did with John Wiggins to get the day created as a day of remembrance.

Today is the National Day Against Gun Violence.

In 2022, at a round table on gun violence hosted by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Toronto Raptors Masai Ujuri, I met John Wiggins, VP Organizational Culture and Inclusion, who talked about bringing a National Day Against Gun Violence to Canada - it’s purpose to bring awareness about all forms of gun violence including suicides and femicides.

John and I had our work rewarded in 2023 as the PM and Masai announced that the first Friday in June will be the National Day Against Gun Violence in Canada.

Wear white today to bring awareness to the need to end gun violence in all its forms.
