Lynn Macaulay Legacy Project The Lynn Macaulay Legacy Project was created to continue the amazing work done by Lynn To learn more, email us at [email protected]. Donate Now!

Established in 2021, the Lynn Macaulay Legacy Project raises resources to support organizations that are working to end chronic homelessness in Waterloo Region. People are considered chronically homeless if they have been homeless for at least six months out of the past year. We are inspired by the life work of Lynn Macaulay, who worked tirelessly on behalf of the homeless in her community to gather resources, build competencies and unite strangers toward a common goal of safe, dignified and affordable housing for all. https://bit.ly/30wqeD9

In Loving Memory of my sister, Lynn ❤️

Lynn was humble, compassionate, and quietly determined. It was only after her passing that I truly began to understand the remarkable impact of her nearly 20-year career with Lutherwood in Kitchener. She was a deeply respected advocate and an unwavering voice for people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness.
She believed that everyone deserved a safe, affordable place to call home. She devoted her career to expanding access to housing, reducing poverty, and helping create a community where no one was left without hope.

In 2021, Lynn’s family and friends established the Lynn Macaulay Legacy Project to honour her life and continue the work she cared so deeply about. Our mission is to raise resources for organizations working to end chronic homelessness in Waterloo Region.
To date, our community has come together to raise more than $100,000. These funds have supported the creation of Indwell’s St. Mark’s Place in Kitchener, the ongoing work of Supportive Housing of Waterloo (SHOW), and now SHOW’s capital campaign for a new 10-unit supportive housing community at 362 Erb Street West in Waterloo.

But Lynn’s legacy is about more than buildings and dollars. It is about dignity, compassion, belonging, and the belief that one person can make a difference. “Lynnie” saw the best in everyone. She brought warmth wherever she went—with her bright smile, infectious laugh, generous hugs, and incredible enthusiasm for every season and every celebration. Most importantly, she brought people together.

I am incredibly proud to continue her vision through the 4th Annual Moving for Good: The Walk to End Chronic Homelessness, taking place Sunday, September 20, 2026.

Every step we take is a step toward a community where everyone has a place to call home.
Every dollar raised carries her legacy forward. And every person who joins us helps keep Lynn’s vision alive.
For Lynn. For our community. For a future where everyone has a safe and affordable place to call home. ❤️
- Thank you, Karen Crowell

Every great project begins with a vision.

At SHOW, that vision is becoming a reality.

This year's Moving for Good campaign is helping build 10 new modular supportive housing units for older adults who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness. These homes will provide more than a roof, they'll offer safety, stability, dignity, and the wrap-around support that helps people age with hope and independence.

Our campaign theme, Every Step Builds Home, reminds us that every act of generosity moves this project forward. Whether you register for the walk, donate, or encourage others to get involved, you're helping create lasting change in our community.

If you haven't already registered for the walk, there's still plenty of time to join us on Sunday, September 20.

Homelessness isn’t an unsolvable problem. We can build solutions.
At Supportive Housing of Waterloo (SHOW), we’re turning a vision into action: 10 new modular supportive housing homes for older adults who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

These aren’t simply four walls and a roof. They are homes where older adults can find safety, stability, dignity, connection and the wrap-around supports they need to age with hope and independence.

And we’re building them one step, one bid, one gift at a time. 👣
Through this year’s Moving for Good campaign, every action helps move this project closer to reality:
🚶 Walk with us
💙 Donate to the campaign
🎁 Bid and support the cause
📣 Share our message and bring others along

Join us Sunday, September 20 and be part of a community choosing action over waiting and solutions over uncertainty.

This is a beautifully written post about Lynn, her beliefs (Housing First) and why we created Moving for Good to raise money in her memory. She knew that if we all work together we can solve homelessness. Thank you Supportive Housing of Waterloo ❤️ Join us!

Every great movement begins with one person who believed things could be better.🩵

For Lynn Macaulay, that belief was simple: everyone deserves a safe place to call home.🏡

Her compassion, leadership, and commitment to ending chronic homelessness continue to inspire our community through the Lynn Macaulay Legacy Project and the annual Moving for Good walk.👣

This year, we're proud to honor Lynn's legacy by raising funds to help Supportive Housing of Waterloo (SHOW) build 10 new modular supportive housing units for older adults who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness.

When you register, donate, or walk alongside us, you're doing more than supporting a fundraiser—you're helping carry Lynn's vision forward and helping create lasting change in Waterloo Region.

🗓Join us on Sunday, September 20.

The Lynn Macaulay Legacy Project is excited to announce the date for the 4th Moving for Good: The Walk to End Chronic Homelessness.

The big day is Sunday September 20, 2026 starting at 1pm. Starting and ending at the Cedars (543 Beechwood Dr. Waterloo, ON). More details to follow soon. Put the date in your calendar NOW!

All funds raised from the walk will be donated to the capital campaign for SHOWs 10 units of modular housing being build at 362 Erb St W specifically for older adults - a quickly growing demographic of the unhoused. Lynn believed that the best practice to achieve an end to chronic homelessness is through the creation of supportive housing units. When trying to recover from homelessness, the services offered through supportive housing are vital. With wrap around assistance, the likelihood of folks successfully transitioning back to a healthy and independent life is dramatically increased. Supportive Housing of Waterloo

Congratulations to everyone who took part in the Coldest Night of the Year walk yesterday. It was a fantastic event. SO many people crammed into Hillard Hall at First United Church in Waterloo. As you can see by this picture, Supportive Housing of Waterloo has now exceeded their goal! And it's likely to keep on rising as donations can come in until the end of March.

It's really amazing to see what a community can do when they work together - incredible!

Thank you to everyone who has donated to our team. We have raised over $11,000 because of you! Every dollar will make a huge difference in the lives of people in our community ❤️ Supportive Housing of Waterloo houses seniors who have experienced homelessness (the fastest growing demographic in homelessness - a brutal statistic). This is why LMLP is working to raise money for SHOW. Our seniors deserve better. Thank you again for your support ⭐️

The Coldest Night of the Year is a winterrific family-friendly fundraising walk in support of local charities. Let’s change the tune for people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness... because it’s cold out there.
