We've been a little behind on posting, as this sure is a crazy time of year! However, we would be remiss if we failed to highlight a unique and ENTERTAINING meeting we had with Comedian, Jenny Frederick! She uses comedy as her ministry, and would love to come speak to YOUR service group, or any of your special events. She brought a light hearted and funny presentation to our group, and we really appreciate you speaking to our Club.

What a great way to start off one's week! Rotarians Kirk Peterson and President Cara Sauceda were honored and privileged to represent our club at this week's SAFB NCO Academy's graduation ceremony! So much fun was had, as they witnessed the excitement and camaraderie amongst these young military leaders. President Cara was asked to present to the most outstanding New NCO Graduate the Commandant's Award.
It is our privilege to support this program, as they mutually support ours! For all of you participating in our Flag Program Fundraiser each year, there are many times that we do not have enough volunteers to put out the thousands of flags in our keep. The NCO Academy has helped us with this endeavor since the early 1990's, and without their direct support, we would not be able to get it done we are so thankful for this partnership!

Each year, we award one person in the community who exemplifies the Rotary's Four Way Test out in the community. This year, our Outstanding Citizen Award went (for the first time ever) to a Rotarian! We are proud to present NOROS MARTING as the 2026 Outstanding Citizen of the Year! Rotarian Dr. Dave Hartman MC'd the presentation, along with Braden Wood and Sheldon Wang. The acknowledgement came as huge surprise to Noros, who was visibly moved by the recognition. Following the standing ovation, Noros was surprised again by the attendance of his family members who were there to celebrate the honor with him. Noros was nominated 4 different times by 4 different people because of his significant presence in our community, as well as the significant contributions you have brought to your Rotary Club! Congratulations Noros, you are an outstanding member of this community and club, and we are blessed for knowing and serving beside you!

Rotarian Dr. David Hartman was the January Judge for the Month of January for the Youth of the Month Program at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Wichita Falls. Our Rotary Club recognized Jade C. from the Northwest Clubhouse as the Rotary Club's January 2026 City-Wide Youth of the Month. She is very involved in school, church, and the Boys & Girl Club. Jade is a very bright and impressive young lady and an easy choice for the award.

Kicking off the New Year with a BIG ole celebration! Established in October of 1915, the Rotary Club of Wichita Falls is one of the oldest Rotary Clubs in Texas and part of Rotary International’s early global expansion. This week we celebrated 110 years of serving our club, community, and global community! Benay Ayers kicked off our celebration with honoring 10 Rotarians with new Paul Harris Fellow distinctions (another post to come with those specifics), and was followed by Rotarian Jeff Spoeri inducting two new Red Badge Members into the Club! Welcome Ann Arnold (of the WF Alliance of Art & Culture) and Matthew Bailey (of the WF Museum of Arts) to our Club! Then, President Cara took us back in time to the way the world and our community looked in 1915, traveled through the years as we reflected on the many accomplishments of our club, and we even played a game of Rotary Trivia with some fun prizes! Reflections we're made on the friendships we've developed, and a round of toasts and acknowledgements were made to recognize significant impacts made by past and present Rotarians. A fun time was had by all and we could not be more blessed to call one another friends and fellow Rotarians. Here is to another 110 years of Service Above Self.
