For 34 years, Literacy Nova Scotia has been opening doors to learning for adults as they build the skills they need to reach their goals.

Connecting learners to resources. Supporting programs across the province. Responding to changing needs with care and innovation.

That kind of work is built over time, through trust, relationships, and commitment.

Now, as we mark this milestone, we're also looking ahead.

If you want to help carry this work into the future, you can stand with us and be part of what comes next at www.literacyns.ca.

Congratulations to Phillip Pineo of Dartmouth Learning Network, recipient of this year's Adult Learner Achievement Award!

We're proud to recognize Phillip's hard work and commitment to learning. His educational journey is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when determination and opportunity come together, and we were so happy to celebrate his accomplishments during our Spring Dinner & Auction for Literacy.

This award was made possible through the generous support of St Barbara, our Scholarship and Bursary Sponsor. Their commitment to supporting adult learners helps us recognize and celebrate achievements like Phillip's. Thank you to Dustin O'Leary of St Barbara for presenting the award and helping us celebrate this special moment.

We're also incredibly grateful to LNS Board Member and Learner Representative Selena Atwell for sharing her educational journey with our guests. Selena recently graduated from NSCC Burridge Campus's Mental Health Recovery and Promotion program, and her story was both inspiring and powerful. Her experiences reminded everyone in attendance of the life-changing impact that learning can have and why supporting adult learners truly matters.

Congratulations again, Phillip, and thank you to both Phillip and Selena for sharing your stories and inspiring others through your achievements.

What an incredible evening at our Spring Dinner & Auction for Literacy! We're still reflecting on the generosity, inspiration, and community spirit that made the event so special.

A heartfelt thank you to our guest speaker, Randy MacMillan, President and CEO of Scotia Investments Limited. Randy's remarks were a powerful reminder of why literacy matters and why investing in adult learners creates lasting change for individuals, families, workplaces, and communities.

As if his inspiring speech wasn't enough, Randy surprised us with an extraordinary donation of $5,000 on behalf of Scotia Investments Limited. We were truly surprised and grateful by this thoughtful and generous gift. This contribution will help us continue supporting adult learners across the province as they build skills and open new opportunities for themselves and their families.

We're also incredibly grateful to Lockheed Martin Canada, our Presenting Sponsor. Their leadership and commitment to literacy helped make this event possible. Support from community-minded organizations like Lockheed Martin Canada allows us to bring people together in support of adult learning and literacy.

A very special thank you goes to our emcee, Cindy Day. Cindy kept our guests engaged, our program on track, and our silent auction excitement high throughout the night. We couldn't have asked for a better host for the evening.

Finally, thank you to everyone who attended, donated, bid in our silent auction, and supported the event in so many ways. Your generosity directly supports adult learning throughout Nova Scotia. Every ticket purchased, every auction bid, and every contribution helps create pathways to learning, employment, and opportunity.

Together, we're building stronger communities through literacy. Thank you for helping make this year's Spring Dinner & Auction for Literacy such a tremendous success!

Stronger literacy builds stronger communities.

When adults have the skills they need, they are better able to participate, contribute, and connect. They bring their voices, their ideas, and their strengths into the spaces around them.

Communities become more inclusive. Workplaces become more adaptable. Families become more supported.

This is not abstract. It shows up in everyday life, in small moments that add up to something much bigger.

If you believe in communities where everyone has a place and a voice, you can help make that possible by showing your support at www.literacyns.ca.
