Nova Scotia Woodlot Owners and Operators Association Nova Scotia Woodlot Owners and Operators Association Rules for Comments

We welcome your thoughts on issues that appear on this page.

Founded in 1969, the Nova Scotia Woodlot Owners and Operators Association is the oldest independent organization of forest landowners and small contractors in the province. NSWOOA believes that sustainable forest use can be realised only through maintenance of ecological health and integrity. Ecological integrity (completeness) safeguards natural communities and is the foundation for environmental

, cultural, and economic benefits enjoyed by human communities. Compromising ecological integrity for short-term gains will inevitably have a negative impact on forest use by future generations. Therefore, NSWOOA vigorously promotes ecological education and awareness amongst its members and all woodlot owners and operators in Nova Scotia. We encourage vigorous debate from all sides. Comments that use racial, ethnic, religious, sexual or other slurs to criticize individuals or groups are not acceptable, however. Vulgarities are also unwelcome. Forest issues are important, and many people feel very strongly about them. Even so, having some restraint and showing a little respect isn't that hard. It might even help your argument.

Another oldie that's worth watching again. We need to prepare for hurricanes, forest fires, and other natural disasters.

But that doesn't mean we can't grow older, diverse, natural forests that contribute to economic, ecological and social health in Nova Scotia. Preparation does not mean panic.

If you are interested in the impact of climate change on the woodlands of eastern Canada, take a few minutes to watch this new video. In it, forest professio...
