That's a wrap! This evening we celebrated the achievements of our youth members with badge presentations, recognized important milestones during our Beaver-to-Cub swim up and Cub-to-Scout crossover ceremonies, and enjoyed a great BBQ with families, Scouters, and friends.

Congratulations to everyone on a year filled with adventure, learning, service, and growth. We are proud of all our youth for the effort, perseverance, and Scout spirit they demonstrated throughout the year.

Thank you to our volunteers, parents, and supporters who help make these experiences possible. Have a safe and enjoyable summer—we look forward to seeing everyone back for another exciting year of Scouting in the fall!

Special thanks as well to the leadership and staff at Tatamagouche Regional Academy for allowing us to make use of their wonderful facility!

Tonight the Cubs tested their engineering and teamwork skills with two fun building challenges!

Using skewers and marshmallows, teams competed to build the tallest tower before moving on to designing spaghetti-and-marshmallow bridges. Along the way, we learned how engineers use shapes and structure to create strong, stable designs, including a look at the renowned train bridges in Tatamagouche.

The Cubs showed great creativity, teamwork, and perseverance throughout the evening while working toward their Cub Engineering Personal Achievement Badge through hands-on learning and problem-solving!

Kub Kar & Beaver Buggy race night is here!

There’s nothing quite like the sound of wheels on the track, the excitement at the starting line, and the pride on a Scout’s face as their creation races toward the finish.

For generations, Kub Kar and Beaver Buggy racing have been a treasured part of Scouts Canada tradition — combining planning, imagination, teamwork, and friendly competition into one unforgettable evening. From simple blocks of wood to colourful, personality-filled racers, these events have long been a rite of passage for Scouts across Canada.

Behind every buggy and car is hands-on learning in action. Engineering and design, weight distribution and balance, friction management, aerodynamics, with lots of measuring, testing, and problem-solving. Every adjustment teaches something new — and every run down the track becomes an experiment!

Bright colours, bold themes, racing stripes, sports teams, flames, — each design tells a story about the Scout who built it. No two cars are ever the same, and that’s part of what makes the night special.

Whether a Scout's car finished first or simply made it to the finish line, tonight was about learning, cheering each other on, and building memories that last long after putting the track away. Congratulations to all of our racers!

Tonight the Cubs had a great evening of movement, teamwork, learning, and fun!

They rotated through rugby, basketball, football, soccer, and other active games while learning how rules can be adapted to keep younger players safe, included, and having fun. Along the way, the Cubs built physical literacy, teamwork, confidence, and healthy active living habits — all key parts of the Scouts Canada program and great progress toward their Year-Round Fitness Personal Achievement Badge.

One of the best moments of the night? The Cubs teaching the Scouters a few games of Gagaball!

Beyond fitness, the evening showed how valuable it is for Scouts to carry a 'toolbox' of games they can bring anywhere — to schoolyards, campsites, beaches and parks with friends and family. A Scout who knows a few games can help bring people together anywhere they go!

The Cubs turned wood scraps into a fleet of one-of-a-kind boats this week!

Working with power tools under close supervision, they measured, built, and problem-solved their way through challenges like short screws and splitting wood—then got creative, reinforcing their designs with twine and adding masts and construction paper sails. We were able to discuss catamaran and trimaran hull types, and the Cubs have new things to look up and learn about when they get home!

This hands-on night brought Scouts Canada’s goals to life: developing practical skills, teamwork, resilience, and confidence through outdoor-inspired learning and experimentation. It also connects directly to the Cub Water Personal Achievement Badge, as the Cubs explored how boats are built, float, and function.

Everyone is looking forward to taking their boats home, and seeing how well they sail!

Kindest thanks to Cripps & Sons Woodworking for donating the tools and materials for this project!

Tonight the Beavers and Cubs participated in Municipality of Colchester Colchester Clean program!

Colchester Clean is a 2-week event planned by Colchester WRM. The event includes participation from individuals, community groups, schools, sports teams, and local businesses. The event began on Earth Day, April 22, for the benefit of county residents.

Our members expanded on the great work done by the students and staff of Tatamagouche Regional Academy to tidy up the school property, and worked around the grounds of the North Shore Recreation Centre as well!

Tonight the Cubs headed outdoors for a nature walk and spring scavenger hunt! With sharp eyes and curiosity, they saw budding trees, spring peepers, a pair of bald eagles, and signs of new life. Each observation sparked great conversations about seasons, habitats, and local ecosystems.

The Cubs worked in teams, checking items off their lists and slowing down to really notice the world around them. It also reinforced Leave No Trace principles and respect for nature. Hands-on learning like this is at the heart of Scouting’s outdoor program.

By exploring their community, Scouts grow confidence, resilience, and environmental awareness. Everyone had a great evening of fresh air and learning outside!

Good evening!

Tonight our small but mighty Beaver group headed on over to the Tatamagouche Library were they graciously hosted guest speaker Mr. Gary Fisher. Gary works for the Department of Transportation with a degree in wildlife management, where he focuses on minimizing human–wildlife conflict, monitoring animal crossings, and helping protect local ecosystems.

During tonight’s session on Reading the Wild we learned tips on trail safety, what to do when we encounter a wild animal, trapping, and animal identification. The eager beavers got up close with real pelts, skulls and even skat! (We got some chuckles)💩.

Thank you to Gary and the Tatamagouche Library for hosting the event!
