Looking to start a career in forestry? D. Bedford Forestry Services in Chester is looking for you!

They are hiring hiring and training 4–5 new team members to work in the woods. No experience is needed - they will pay to train and provide all necessary gear (other than good CSA footwear).

This is hands-on, outdoor work that isn’t easy, but for the right person, it’s a chance to build real skills and be part of something meaningful.

We couldn't be more excited to welcome you to join us for our Annual General Meeting on June 17 at the Holiday Inn Express at the Halifax Airport from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Today we get to introduce you to Gary Cox, our keynote speaker. He will be discussing Leadership Without Titles, how leadership shows up in your forestry organization without formal roles or job titles. The session will explore the difference between coaching and mentoring, simple ways knowledge gets transferred before it walks out the door, and how small leadership moments contribute to skills development, retention, and workforce sustainability.

Alongside a light lunch and some engagement opportunities, we think there's a lot of good reason to come out to the AGM!

Are you passionate about sustainability, the environment, and helping others discover meaningful green career pathways? Do you thrive in organizing events, connecting with communities, and inspiring people to care about the natural world? If you are a motivated communicator, organized team player, and eager to support workforce development initiatives in Nova Scotia’s forestry sector, we have an exciting opportunity for you with the Forestry Sector Council (FORSEC).

We are seeking a youth applicant (ages 15–30) to support FORSEC’s outreach and communication activities throughout the province. This position provides hands-on experience in workforce development, communications, and public engagement—while helping advance sustainable ecological forestry efforts across Nova Scotia. The ideal candidate is adaptable, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic about connecting others to career opportunities in our forestry sector.

The Education Outreach Program Coordinator (CSJ) will support FORSEC’s initiatives to promote forestry-related careers.

This youth-focused summer role involves:

-Assisting with career fairs, school presentations, and community events
-Coordinating logistics for industry events and stakeholder gatherings
-Supporting outreach efforts that highlight forestry career pathways, climate-adaptation roles, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Reconciliation, and Accessibility (EDIRA) practices and sustainable ecological forestry practices
-Contributing to communications and educational materials

This is a unique opportunity for a young person to gain real-world experience in employment outreach, event coordination, green jobs promotion, and sustainability communications. The successful candidate will help inspire the next generation of forestry’s workforce.
