October is Mi'kmaq History Month.
Proclaimed in 1993 by then-Premier John Savage and Mi'kmaq Grand Chief Ben Sylliboy, Mi'kmaq History Month is for celebrating and honoring the rich culture, heritage, and enduring legacy of the Mi'kmaq people.
The theme for 2026 is "Nepisulti'k" or "We Are Healing," based on teachings from the late Elder Murdena Marshall, focusing on lifelong healing and our connectedness to one another.
By changing our banner and logo through this month, Tide Volleyball joins others all over Mi’kma’ki (part of which is today's Nova Scotia) in celebrating the people who have called this place home since time immemorial and who share its lands and waters with us today.
