The Huxley 4-H Beef Club enjoyed a very successful day of public speaking. All 25 members presented and did an outstanding job with both their prepared and impromptu speeches. The confidence, effort, and growth shown by our members made us incredibly proud.

A sincere thank you to Sarah Hogg for organizing the event. We truly appreciate all the time and work that went into making the day run smoothly.

We are also very grateful to our 12 volunteer judges who generously donated their time and expertise. Your support is greatly appreciated.

A special thank you to Harper Dettmer and Abby Watson - Langevin for doing an excellent job as MCs. As this is their final year in 4-H, it was wonderful to see them step into leadership roles and help ensure the day ran seamlessly.

Thank you to all the parents who contributed food and snacks. We enjoyed a wonderful meal together after the speeches and appreciated the strong sense of community.

Last night, the Huxley 4-H Beef Club hosted our Annual Awards Night, and we were thrilled to see such a great turnout of members and families. It was truly wonderful to have the room filled with so many people celebrating another successful year together.

A heartfelt thank-you to Jana Hogg for preparing the delicious meal. Your time, talent, and hard work are appreciated more than you know. We are also incredibly grateful to Pioneer Seeds for generously sponsoring the meal—your support means so much to our club and our members.

This year, we were honoured to have two award sponsors.
• Johnson Land & Cattle sponsored our Reserve Champion Award, which was presented to Grace Smyth.
• Beauview Farm generously sponsored our Club Spirit Award, which recognizes outstanding enthusiasm and participation. This year, the award was proudly presented to Ella Knievel.

Congratulations to all of our outstanding members who worked hard and grew in their project this year. It was an awesome night celebrating achievements, friendships, and the strong community that makes 4-H so special.

Over the past few years, our club has offered an incentive for members who have their calves halter broke before weigh-in. The deal is simple: if you can safely lead your calf at weigh-in, you earn $50 from the club.

This year, we are excited to share that five members successfully led their calves through weigh-in.

Huxley 4-H Beef Club Weigh-In Day

Today our club officially weighed in 40 animals for the 2025 project year. We are thrilled to have 25 members this year — 11 Juniors, 8 Intermediates, and 6 Seniors.

A heartfelt thank-you goes out to the Stankievech family for hosting our weigh-in once again. Their support, knowledge, and warm hospitality make this day run smoothly every year. We are incredibly grateful for their excellent facility and everything they do for our members and their families.

We’ve been fortunate to call this our weigh-in location for many years, and we’re looking forward to another successful season.

Thank you to our wonderful parents for helping to make the morning run so smoothly.

Thank you to Valley Veterinary Clinic in Trochu for donating the vaccines!

Conformation judging focuses on the structure, muscling, and overall quality of the animal. In market steer classes, judges look for balance, soundness, good muscling, and how well the animal will perform on the rail. It's all about selecting animals that show strong potential for meat production and market readiness.
