🤝🇲🇽 Thank you to Brandon Fires Firefighter/Paramedic Adrian Fraijo, Cal Funk of Darlingford Fire and everyone involved with this project.

Through the donation of our older fire gear, we are able to help support the volunteer firefighters of Empalme, Sonora, Mexico. Equipment that may no longer be in frontline service for us can still make a major difference for another department in another country and help keep firefighters safe while they protect their community.

We are proud to be able to support fellow firefighters and thankful to everyone who helped make this happen. đźš’

Incident Report – May 15, 2026 – 12:42 AM

NTFD was dispatched in the early hours of the morning as mutual aid to Rathwell Fire Department for a large yard and brush fire within the municipality caused by downed power lines.

Upon arrival, crews were met with extremely challenging conditions as severe winds rapidly pushed the fire through the yard and rough bush terrain. Firefighters deployed several hose lines and worked throughout the night to contain the fast-moving fire.

After several hours of hard work, crews were able to bring the fire under control by approximately 5:00 AM. Thank you to Fairhome Colony for providing and assisting in hauling water.

We would also like to thank all responding members from both Treherne and Rathwell Fire Departments for their dedication and commitment over the past days. Our firefighters continue to answer the call with little sleep and demanding conditions. Your hard work and sacrifice do not go unnoticed.

Incident Report - May 14, 2026. 1:15a.m.

Treherne & Rathwell Fire Departments spent the early morning hours battling a fast moving grass and bush fire in extremely windy conditions. Thanks to the hard work of firefighters on scene, 2 homes and a shop were successfully protected from damage.

These are the exact conditions that make fires spread rapidly and become difficult to control. Dry grass and strong winds can turn a small fire into a major incident within minutes.

Please respect the burning bans currently in place for our municipality and throughout the province. Your cooperation helps keep our firefighters, residents, homes, and communities safe.

Thank you to everyone who assisted on scene through the night.

⚠️ Burning Ban Reminder ⚠️

The Municipality of Norfolk Treherne remains under a burning ban until further notice. With high winds expected throughout the day, fire conditions can become dangerous very quickly and even a small fire can spread out of control in a matter of minutes.

We are asking all residents to please refrain from any outdoor burning during this time. This includes brush piles, yard waste, and any open burning activities.

These restrictions are in place to help protect our community, homes, farmland, and emergency responders. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated as we work together to prevent unnecessary fires.

Please continue to monitor municipal updates for any changes to the burning ban.

May 4 is International Firefighters’ Day.

Today, NTFD recognizes and thanks our volunteer firefighters for the countless hours they dedicate to training, and for their commitment to answering the call, no matter the time or circumstance. When the pager goes off, they leave their jobs, their homes, and their families to help others in their time of need.

It takes a special kind of person to serve their community this way, and we’re proud to stand alongside them.

Thank you to all firefighters for your service and dedication.

As you tackle your spring cleaning, don’t forget about one of the most overlooked fire hazards in your home…. your dryer vent.

Lint buildup in dryer vents can restrict airflow and lead to overheating, which is a cause of house fires. Taking a few minutes to clean your vent can make a big difference in keeping your home and family safe.

NTFD encourages everyone to:
• Clean the lint trap after every load
• Check and clean your dryer vent regularly
• Ensure the outside vent is clear of debris
