KBRH Health Foundation Join us in enhancing the quality of healthcare for the Kootenay Boundary region

The Foundation, an independent registered charitable society, will raise endowed gifts and annual funds to support health care equipment needs, staff education, and special initiatives to enhance the health care of Kootenay Boundary residents through the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital and other Kootenay Boundary health care facilities, including Poplar Ridge, Columbia View Lodge and Community Health.

We are incredibly grateful to share that, because of your support, TB Vets was able to provide a $50,000 grant to the KBRH Health Foundation to help fund a state-of-the-art HAMILTON-C6 Ventilator.

This advanced equipment is a complete game-changer for respiratory care, featuring innovative technology that helps deliver precise and critical breathing support for those that cannot breathe on their own. It is now on-site and ready to serve both the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the Emergency Department—helping provide vital support to 20–30 critically ill patients experiencing acute respiratory failure every single year. 🫁💪

A generous $50,000 donation from Doukhobor Heritage Retreat Society (DHRS #1999), doing business as Whatshan Lake Retreat, is helping bring advanced breast cancer care technology to Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH).

This meaningful contribution supports the introduction of magnetic seed localization technology — an advancement that will enhance surgical precision, improve patient comfort, and help streamline the surgical experience for individuals undergoing breast cancer surgery closer to home.

Lisa Pasin, KBRH Health Foundation Executive Director, gratefully accepted this donation from Jim Laktin, DHRS #1999 Founder; Marilyn Verigin; and Elmer Verigin, DHRS #1999 Founder (left to right), whose generosity is helping advance breast cancer care for patients across the region.

This donation represents an important first step toward fully funding two magnetic seed localization systems for KBRH, with a total project cost of approximately $166,000.

Local community partners, including Nelson Home Hardware, Harrop Procter Community Forest, Georama Growers, and DIG Garden Centres—have helped care for and sustain it along the way.

💙 Small comforts can make a big difference during a hospital stay.

KBRH now has new sleeper chairs to help keep families close during care. One chair will support partners staying with patients during labour and delivery, while two additional chairs will provide a more comfortable overnight option for parents of pediatric patients.

These chairs help families remain at the bedside, offering comfort and support during what can often be long and emotional stays in hospital.

Thanks to a generous $50,000 donation from TB Vets Charitable Foundation, Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital has a new HAMILTON-C6 Ventilator for the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department.

This advanced technology provides precise respiratory support for patients facing severe lung conditions, including Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and other complex respiratory illnesses. Expected to support 20–30 critically ill patients each year, this equipment will play an important role in improving patient outcomes and enhancing critical care closer to home.
