RCSCC 131 Kootenay

RCSCC 131 Kootenay Sea Cadets is a fun, engaging, youth activity that welcomes youth ages 12 - 18. Join us for a fun, low-cost, life-changing program!

Cadets learn aspects of leadership, sailing, physical fitness, public speaking and more! A partnership between the Department of National Defense and the Navy League of Canada. Sea Cadets strives to teach youth the skills needed to sail, seamanship, operate a power boat, leadership, citizenship, and other transferable skills. The Sea Cadet program is geared to youth aged 12 - 18 under supervision

of Canadian Forces Reservists and Civilian adults. The cadets are taught by their peers and in turn learn the skills needed to then teach themselves. Broken down into phases, cadets move through the program building on the skills they have begun learning from day one in the program, eventually mastering a variety of skills and techniques. Youth who stick with the program have the opportunity to earn up to CanSail 5, attend international exchanges and learn valuable life skills
