So the lease has been terminated for the club and already the park next door is becoming a free for all. The Yacht Club was never the problem. In fact we were the stewards and with out the club anarchy is descending.

So Jason Sills has been celebrating daily at the club house burning down yet guess what? The jet ski problems still persist.
Because we were never zhe problem and he's always been aware of that.
His campaign has always been about acquiring the property for his own purposes. Who would celebrate a 74 year old landmark that meant so much to so many being destroyed. The person responsible for it's destruction perhaps?

Just want to be clear that the opinions expressed on this page are are mine, the author. I'm Johnny Reischer and although I am a member of the Toronto Himber yacht club. Im also a long term resident of the area. I've also worked for the Ontario Ministry of Natural resources in my youth as well as at one point was considering a career with them. I also considered being a trapper for a while as well until fur prices dropped to absolutely ridiculous lows.
I did end up becoming a geologist and was able to travel across Canada to some of the most remote and pristine parts of Canada. I'm also a lifetime member of the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters.
My opinions that I express are mine and mine alone and do not represent the rest of the club.
When I listen to members of zhe Toronto Region Conservation Authority tell blatant lies in a hearing I stood up and called them a bold faced liar. I have zero respect for Andrea Morley who wanted to submit her bid for the property before council even voted on the lease. She blatantly showed her own motives for getting rid of the club and advancing her own plans for the property. She lives high on the hog spending over a million dollars for personal expenses last year. Anyone with over a million dollars in expenses for a single year is morally corrupt and an absolute disgrace to their office in my hard felt opinion.
I've seen Jason Sills lie to the press, bombard every forum with false information and use social media under the guise of caring about the enviorment run a smear campaign against the club all with the sole intention of taking over the property for himself.
Everything he does is a lie and being an honest man I will not keep my mouth shut and listen to this lowest slimiest form of human perpetuate his false narrative in order to advance his own personal gain. Jason has less knowledge of the enviorment than I gave in my baby finger. Running around with a camera taking pictures does not make you an enviormentalist.
My research into the Toronto Region Conservation Authority has also lead me to hold them in complete contempt.
They were formed by the Ontario Government after Hurricane Hazel and tasked with a very clear objective.
To build 6 dams along the Humber watershed in clearly specified locations in order to prevent any future flooding of the Humber River.
They built only two of those dams and I stead used the money budgeted for the construction of those dams to appropriate land. One of those properties belonged to the Toront Humber Yacht Club.
The Humber as overflowed its banks drastically 5x in the last 6 years. Its safe to say its been a complete failure at accomplishing the very objective it was created for.
Worse they had no business appropriating the clubs land in the first place let alone forcing them to lease their own land from them.
If the club was ever in violation of any laws or bi-laws they should be charged and fined just like any other land owner.
With the millions of dollars collected in lease payments you would hope they'd make some improvements to the river and yet its worse than ever with 2025 setting records for the highest e-coli levels ever.
Instead its ballooned into a bearocratic nightmare with a full time staff of over 400 individuals all making $100k a year and spending $338 million annually with barely anything accomplished. I spent months reading all their own reports and to me it seams obvious they simply compile them and don't bother reading them because they certainly aren't acting on them and instead are focused on removing motorized boats from the river which is not even in their jurisdiction, as well as implementing their friends special interest groups over Heritage uses of the property ordering the river. Their focus should be on preventing fertilizer and raw sewage from entering the river from agricultural lands. They also through mismanagement have even added a greater burden to the wildlife along the river banks through the mismanagement of the two dams that they did build the dams were designed to remain open in winter so as to be able to handle the spring floods as an overflow. Instead they closed the dams in the fall drastically reducing the amount of water in the lower Humber affecting fish and wildlife. Instead large amounts of ice form north of the dams to be released along with the spring floods causing huge environmental damage to the banks of the Humber. Some years these ice flows will reach hundreds of yards over the bank destroying everything. This problem did not exist before the construction of the dams so the conservation Authority has been more harmful than helpful. It's about time it was scrapped absorbed by the ministry of the environment or the ministry of Natural Resources.
For years I hunted the Ogoki river system and that is a water management system controlled by a damn. It lead to me calling the damn operator every year before our hunt and i found the damn operator very informative. I've also been caribou hunting in Northern Quebec and have seen the massive dams that have made Quebec a power house inexporting hydro.
My interest in ecosystems led me to spend many hours with my children in the Humber River studying it to the habitants as well as many hours along its trails. So much so that it led by Daughter to pursue a PHD in biogenetics and now teachers biology at the University of Guelph. I feel that I am far more qualified to comment on the health of the Humber River and what should be done then Jason Sills or Andrea Morley or most of the employees of the Toronto region conservation Authority, specially the individuals that addressed city council recommending the clubs lease not be renewed. Now the opinions I express are my own but they are not uninformed opinions.

The page "REVITALIZE THE HUMBER" Is a front for a rowing club who have orchestrated a campaign of fabricated lies about the Toronto Humber Yacht Club, in order to take over the lease for their rowing club. Jason Sills has worked tirelessly on social media on every platform to create a false narrative about the club.
Two weeks ago we filed a lawsuit against the city with evidence to refute every claim made as well reminding the city of our original agreement. When they took the land from the club almost 70 years ago since its set up as a coop the money they gave the club could not go to an individual since there isnt an owner. The money was used to build the present day clubhouse and if we didn't renew the lease we would forfeit the building to the Toronto Region Conservation Authority. Not so if they didnt renew our lease without just cause.
Within 48 hours the club house was burned to the ground by an arsonist and Jason Sills whos been on the scene every day and lives around the corner was conveniently in Hamilton with an Alibi when any other given day he would be home alone.
Despite all this a judge heard our case and ruled in our favour. The city immediately filed an appeal.
We are in the right, everything Jason Sills has said about the club is proven in court to be lies.
Also do people realize how much of the river a rowing club would dominate. There would be no room for anyone else. The oars take up twice the room asthe largest boat and they chop through the water with breakneck speed and brutal force. They chop silently and are a huge risk to all wildlife especially
diving birds and turtles.
These rowing skiffs are a menace and if youve ever encountered one you'd understand what complete elitist flagrant individuals operate them and their arrogant attitude towards all they encounter.
Revitalize The Humber is a masquerade of lies orchestrated by Jason Sills to steal a heritage site from a coop that once owned it over 70 years ago and now forced to lease it from a slum landlord lord, The Toronto Region Conservation Authority.

Someone burnt the Toronto Humber Yacht Club to the ground last week and today I was finally granted access to the minnow traps I had set in order to show a cub scouts troop of about 20 boys last Thursday. After 8 days in the water this was the total catch from 6 traps. Normally our docks would've launched 3 weeks ago and it would have returned a huge variety of species and far greater numbers. The yacht club provides a much needed structure for fish to congregate and thrive in another wise devoid 2 km section of river.

I had put some minnow traps out the day before some piece of s**t burned our club house down. I had a troop of cubscouts visiting to tour the club and I wanted to get them interested in the river's ecology. Then one of our adversaries or someone influenced by all the lies theyve been spewing burnt down the one place that actually cared about the HUMBER RIVER. You see that slime all over the traps? That's f***s that is spread as fertilizer on agricultural lands as well as the four commercial livestock operations that borders the river. Last year the e-coli levels according to THE TORONTO REGIONS CONSERVATION AUTHORITY'S own reports was the highest ever. Underbtheir management the river has become an open sewer and yet life still survives. Jason Sills would have everyone believe we are the problem. Don't believe his or concillor Morleys lies. The club is the best enviormentally managed property on the river and the TRCA is a disaster table devouring monster failing the river,the wildlife and catering to special interest groups while it does nothing to control water levels or curb the sewage that enter the river. This is a crime and needs to be addressed.

Please help if you can by signing the petition. Tell the people trying to take over our lease for themselves that you won't believe their lies and the club won't go away by burning them out. We are more than just a building. We are a community of dedicated individuals dedicated to keep a 70 year old Tradition alive as well as honor the memory of Ma and Pappy where kids learned to swim and boat and sail. The club was purchased from them by a group of boaters who pooled their resourses yet they vowed that it would never be anything they would profit off of and it would be open to everyone who wished to take up the torch and do their share to preserve the river. No matter if you have a boat, a canoe, kayak, paddle board or just want to be a social member who wishes to volunteer we have always had a place for you. Help make sure we continue that tradition.
