The 2026 annual general meeting of the Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce was held on September 29. Nearly 100 members attended the event to take stock of the organization's present and deliberate on its future.

Elections were held for two positions on the board of directors. Prashant Srivastava was re-elected as the President for 2026-27, and Dr. Indira Khurana and Vikas Gupta were re-elected to a 2-year term.

Thank you to our members for participating in the election and to all ICCC Board directors for their valued volunteer contributions. President Srivastava welcomed the presence of past presidents RAMESH CHOTAI, Rakesh Goenka, Pramod Goyal, Pranav Patel, Dharma Jain , CPA (ON, AB, BC),CPA, IL (USA), FCA (India), Arvind Bhardwaj and Murarilal Thapliyal.

Appreciation also goes to the ICCC staff; the ICCC Research Team for its contribution to our CEPA recommendations submission; and Pappur Shankar, SANJAY KULKARNI,CPA,CFA,CBV,CDir, SURINDER (Sam) SHARMA, and AGM Chair Pranav Patel for supporting a successful process.

As the ICCC approaches its 50th anniversary in 2027, we will deepen member engagement and work with our member SMEs to strengthen Canada–India trade and support the ambition of reaching $70 billion in bilateral trade by 2030.

Together, we will connect businesses, create opportunities and build lasting partnerships.

The Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) brought a strong Canadian business perspective to RISE Global – MSME Upgradation, Export Development, Growth Conference & Summit, held on 11 September 2026 at Hotel The Panache, Patna.

Mr. Prashant Srivastava, President, ICCC, addressed the inaugural session on “Global Trends & Export Opportunities – Canada,” highlighting Canada as a high-value market and an important gateway to North America.

He outlined opportunities for Indian businesses across pharmaceuticals, textiles & apparel, food products, engineering, chemicals, jewellery, auto components, electronics, IT, AI and professional services, while emphasizing the Indian diaspora’s role in strengthening trade, investment, innovation and people-to-people connections.

The discussions also highlighted the potential significance of the ongoing Canada–India CEPA negotiations in enhancing market access, trade predictability and cooperation across goods, services, investment and global supply chains.

A key milestone was the signing of a Strategic Partnership & Collaboration MoU between ICCC, WeSpark Startup Association (WeSSA) and Theistic Business Consultants (TBC).

The partnership will focus on:

• Connecting Bihar MSMEs with Canadian companies
• Facilitating B2B meetings and trade delegations
• Promoting investment and business partnerships
• Supporting knowledge and technology exchange
• Expanding access to Canadian business networks
• Creating opportunities for exports and international market entry

The collaboration provides a foundation for building a more structured Canada–Bihar Business Corridor, aligned with the RISE Global vision of enabling Bihar enterprises to scale into international markets.

We Spark Startup Association supports startups, MSMEs & emerging enterprises in accessing national & global opportunities, while Theistic Business Consultants brings extensive experience in Global Collaboration, Trade, Networking & Government Engagement, working with stakeholders across 100+ countries through strategic partnerships and consultative roles in India.

Building Connections and Creating Opportunities

On September 2, Dr. Indira Khurana, Vice President and Corporate Secretary of the Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) and Director for Women Entrepreneurs and Professionals, met with the Honourable Rechie Valdez, Minister of Women and Gender Equality (Minister) and Secretary of State (Small Business and Tourism) (Secretary of State)for a warm and productive discussion.

Representing ICCC, Dr. Khurana discussed ways to strengthen collaboration with government in support of ICCC members, especially small and medium-sized businesses and women entrepreneurs.

Their conversation also explored government programs that support business growth, international trade, and stronger connections between Canadian businesses and global markets.

Dr. Khurana also presented the Pride of India Award to Minister Valdez, for which she was nominated by ICCC’s partner, the Indo-American Business Chamber for SMEs, during its 23rd Founder’s Day celebration in Canada in association with ICCC.

At ICCC, we believe meaningful progress often starts with conversation and a shared commitment to collaboration. Our goal is to turn these discussions into practical opportunities for our members and the broader business community.

We sincerely thank Minister Valdez for her time, openness, and encouragement. We look forward to continuing the dialogue and exploring how ICCC and government can work together to support entrepreneurs and create new opportunities.

It was a privilege for the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) to participate in the community reception and interaction with Hon Nirmala Sitharaman Nirmala Sitharaman , Minister of Finance and Minister of Corporate Affairs, GOI, during her visit to Canada.

We sincerely thank India in Toronto for inviting ICCC to this important engagement and for providing an opportunity for the business community to contribute to the dialogue on strengthening the India–Canada economic relationship.
It was also a pleasure to interact with community and industry leaders from across the Canada–India ecosystem, exchange perspectives, and discuss opportunities to further deepen commercial and economic ties between our two countries.
During the interaction, the Chamber had the opportunity to introduce its role and share perspectives and ideas focused on further strengthening the India–Canada bilateral business corridor, with particular emphasis on trade, investment, financial services, entrepreneurship, innovation, and greater opportunities for businesses on both sides.

We also welcome the announcement of the inaugural Canada–India Finance Ministers’ Economic and Financial Dialogue, which represents an important step toward deepening economic and financial cooperation between our two countries. The Dialogue reinforces the shared commitment to expanding trade and investment, strengthening financial linkages, and creating greater opportunities for businesses and investors in both countries.

ICCC looks forward to continuing to work with governments, institutions, businesses, and the wider Canada–India business community to help translate this renewed momentum into stronger partnerships, increased investment, and sustainable economic growth.

The ICCC’s Board of Directors met with Hon. Bhupendra Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat, along with the Government of Gujarat’s Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Das, and Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Vikrant Pandey, to discuss opportunities for strengthening Canada–Gujarat economic and institutional ties ahead of Vibrant Gujarat 2027.

ICCC President Prashant Srivastava briefed the Chief Minister on ICCC’s continued engagement with Gujarat, including its 2024 trade mission, meetings with the Chief Minister, a visit to GIFT City, and interaction with GLS University.

The discussions explored opportunities for collaboration in artificial intelligence, skill development, tourism and hospitality, and sports, with particular emphasis on cricket, one of the fastest-growing sports in Canada and an important platform for strengthening people-to-people connections.

The ICCC reaffirmed its commitment to participating in Vibrant Gujarat 2027 and thanked the Chief Minister for leading a delegation to Canada. Such high-level engagements are helping build stronger people-to-people ties that can translate into meaningful business-to-business partnerships.

The ICCC also briefed the Chief Minister on its recent trade mission to India following the renewed momentum in Canada–India relations under Prime Ministers Mark Carney and Narendra Modi. ICCC shared its perspectives and recommendations on the ongoing Canada–India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) discussions, with a focus on creating greater opportunities for businesses in both countries.

The ICCC is committed to serving as a bridge between Canadian and Indian businesses and invites Canadian companies, investors, and entrepreneurs to join the ICCC network and explore new opportunities to expand their commercial presence in India.
