A heartfelt thank you to the Kiwanis Club of Toronto Foundation for awarding Green Thumbs Growing Kids a $10,000 Leadership and Mentorship Grant.

Rebecca had the pleasure of representing our organization at the 2026 Cocktail Royale | Masquerade Edition, an evening dedicated to celebrating organizations working to create meaningful opportunities for children and youth in our communities.

This generous investment will help strengthen our school garden programs, where students develop leadership skills, build confidence, connect with nature, and gain hands-on experience growing food.

We are deeply grateful to the Kiwanis community for championing youth leadership and mentorship, and for believing in the impact of experiential learning. Thank you for helping us continue to grow healthier, more resilient communities—one school garden at a time.

Missed yesterday's rooftop tour? There's one more chance to join us. 🌱

Yesterday, participants gathered at the Green Thumbs UP rooftop farm in Regent Park to learn about urban agriculture, green infrastructure, food sovereignty, and the role rooftop growing spaces can play in building more resilient cities.

This afternoon, we're opening another unique rooftop growing space to the public: a quarter-acre rooftop garden at Eastdale Collegiate Institute.

Join us for a guided tour exploring how students are learning about food systems, composting, biodiversity, and climate action through hands-on experience, and try your hand at planting, too.

✨ Rooting for Rooftops: Eastdale Collegiate School Garden
📅 Thursday, June 4
🕠 5:00–6:00 PM

This rooftop is rarely open to the public, making this one of the few opportunities to experience the space firsthand.

Happy International Children's Day! 💚

At Green Thumbs Growing Kids we have the pleasure of working with the children in our partner schools each week and teaching them about where their food comes from. Here are some quotes from the children in our program over the past few months. We hope they brighten your day.

Thank you to everyone who made Spring Is in The Air 2026 a success! 🌸

On April 26th we gathered to celebrate our 10th year of SIITA and Green Thumbs Growing Kids at the Allan Gardens Children’s Conservatory. We enjoyed live music, food, hands-on kids programming and got our gardens ready for the growing season with a plant sale.

Thanks to your support we were able to meet our fundraising goal for the event, with every dollar raised bringing school gardens and environmental education to children across Toronto.

We’re deeply grateful to our sponsors, community partners, GTGK staff and board members for making SIITA possible 💚 The Daniels Corporation Friends of Allan Gardens Cabbagetown BIA Silver Creek Nursery Daniel et Daniel Miinikaan Innovation & Design Root Rescue Environmental Products Inc.
