The Beltline Karma Garden in Toronto

The Beltline Karma Garden in Toronto The Garden, named after our abducted Karma Hen, became a City of Toronto garden in 2014. We learn to live with uncertainty in our garden. And others leave.

The Garden shares its space willingly with all God's creatures on the Beltline: plants, humans, dogs, runners and bicycles. The Karma Garden shares its space willingly with all God's creatures on the Kay Gardner Beltline in Toronto: flora, fauna, humans, dogs, runners and bicycles. Planted in 2013, standing through controversy and Mother Nature's wrath at times, it has endured with more grace than

most we know. One of our earliest benefactors, whose gift "The Karma Hen" was abducted in the middle of the night, gave the Garden its name and an urban legend. Every year, a plant that was written off comes back again and thrives. Others flourish for no clear reason at all. We can find no better teacher than our garden. If we are open, life helps to live comfortably in the present, and to be available to learn in each moment. And when we feel undone, we understand that "the heart that breaks can contain the universe" (Joanna Macy). We wouldn't want it any other way. Peace and love, Dirt Girl
