May 5 is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S), also known as Red Dress Day. ❤️
Across so-called Canada, red dresses are hung in public spaces and communities gather to honour the lives that have been taken and the many who are still missing. Each dress is a powerful reminder of the ongoing violence rooted in colonialism, systemic racism, and gender-based injustice.
Today, we hold space for families, Survivors, and Communities who continue to carry grief, strength, and love. We recognize the leadership of Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit kin who have been calling for justice for generations—and who continue to lead change.
This day is not only about remembrance, but about action. It calls on all of us to listen deeply, challenge systems that cause harm, and support Indigenous-led solutions that protect and uplift Community.
We remember. We honour. We commit to change.
