Created in March 2013, North Korean Refugee Mentorship Organization (NKRMO) is a non-profit organization which strives to provide interaction between South Korean mentors with young North Korean refugees. The goal of the organization is to create genuine opportunities for the minor refugees in Canada help them adjust to challenges in the new environment. The specific outline of the operating proce
ss involves two matched mentor and mentee who meets once a week to spend time together as the members provide academic as well as social counseling. The activities are conducted through assigned pairs of mentor and mentee as long as the activity is under the legal boundaries set by Canadian Law. The gathering of the members occurs once a month when the organization hosts monthly gathering such as movie nights, picnic, museum trip, etc. The long term goal of the organization envisions that in the near future, they can grow up to be one of the leaders in their community and also in Canadian society.
탈북자녀 멘토십 단체 (이하 NKRMO)는 2013년 3월에 설립된 사회단체로서 토론토에 거주하는 탈북민 자녀와 한국 대학생들의 소통과 교류를 제공하는 데 의의를 두고 있습니다. 저희 단체의 목적은 난민 자녀들이 토론토라는 새로운 환경에 잘 적응 할 수 있는 기회를 만드는 것 입니다. 짝이 지어진 mentor와 mentee가 일주일에 한번 만나서 학업 또는 사회적 상담을 해주는 방식으로 프로그램이 진행되고 있습니다. 활동계획 및 내용은 캐나다 법률을 지키는 조건하에, 두 사람의 의지대로 정할 수 있도록 하고 있습니다. 또한, 매 월 단체 정기모임을 통해 영화관람, 피크닉, 박물관 견학 등 아이들이 새로운 캐나다의 문화를 친근감 있게 받아드릴 수 있도록 목표하고 있습니다. 올바르게 자란 아이들이 배움과 경험을 통해 작게는 탈북자 커뮤니티, 크게는 캐나다 사회에 공헌 할 수 있는 인물이 될 수 있도록 도움을 주는데에 궁극적인 목표를 둔 단체입니다.
