NOWU MEMBERS DESERVE ANSWERS!
For years, NOWU has sold its independence as one of the biggest reasons workers should join them.
On NOWU’s OWN WEBSITE, they criticize the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) and the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL). They tell workers that CLC affiliation protects the “Big Unions,” limits workers’ choices and wastes members’ dues.
NOWU even tells workers that being a NON-CLC UNION is what gives them an alternative.
So what changed?
Now, amid serious questions about NOWU’s future, members deserve to know:
🔥 NOWU looking to merge with another union?
🔥 Would that union be affiliated with the very labour organizations NOWU has spent years criticizing?
🔥 Were NOWU members consulted BEFORE any discussions took place?
🔥 What has President Tim Oribine told the membership?
🔥 And most importantly, How much money is Oribine pocketing.
You cannot preach “freedom, transparency, democracy and independence” to recruit workers and then make major decisions about their union behind closed doors.
If a merger is being discussed, PUT IT ON THE TABLE.
Tell the members WHO.
Tell them WHY.
Tell them WHEN the discussions started.
And give the MEMBERS, not a handful of people behind closed doors the final say.
NO BACK-DOOR DEALS.
NO DOUBLE STANDARDS.
NO MORE EXCUSES.
NOWU members pay the dues.
NOWU MEMBERS DESERVE THE TRUTH.
