COTO recently had the opportunity to present at two “naturally occurring retirement communities” (NORCs) in Ottawa, engaging directly with residents about occupational therapy and aging in place.

During these sessions, we shared information, answered questions, and had meaningful conversations about home safety, community supports, and the experiences of older adults.

Thank you to both the Wellness-Mieux-être Committee at The Highlands and the Wellness Committee at the Riviera for inviting us.

National Accessibility Week recognizes the importance of accessibility, inclusion and the contributions of people with disabilities in Canada. It also highlights the ongoing work needed to remove barriers to participation.

Occupational therapists support people with disabilities by helping adapt environments, develop skills and identify strategies that support engagement in daily life.
