Dia de los Muertos Collective

Dia de los Muertos Collective Since 2003 the Day of the Dead has been named Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. Admittance is free to all.

The Día de Los Mu***os Collective is a nonprofit that coordinates the efforts of Toronto´s community to bring a celebration that honors the dead, delights the living, promotes artistic creation and foster community development through tradition. At Wychwood barns in Toronto, this celebration has been entirely produced by the community, without big corporate sponsorship to fill the need to carry on

the celebration of the Day of the Dead in the way we do back home. As immigrants we feel the need to carry on with our customs to keep sight of who we are. Strengthening identity provides grounding for the individual in a new country and promotes self-esteem. The Day of the dead/Dia de los mu***os ceremony and celebration is a community event that happens every year at Artscape Wychwood Barns, located at 601 Christie Street, Toronto, from 4pm to 10pm.

It will include teachings by Redbird, compelling visual art from Philip Cote (Ojibwe/Moose Deer Point), and concerts throughout the day from each of the collaborating Indigenous artists in Walking Through The Fire, as well as SHUB and Día de los Mu***os Collective, culminating with all performing together for a grand performance with Sultans of String at 8:00pm."
