Emotional connection begins long before words. 🤍

For Deaf and Hard of Hearing babies, face-to-face interaction, eye contact, touch, facial expressions, play, and responsive communication are deeply important from the very beginning of life — even before a child starts speaking.

These early moments of connection help build:

🌟 What is Early Intervention for Deaf Children? 🌟

Early intervention means providing specialized support — from hearing assessments to language and communication services — during the first months of life, when the brain is most ready to build language and learning foundations. Without it, children who are deaf or hard of hearing are at risk for delays in language, social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Research shows that early access to services dramatically improves outcomes in speech, language, cognition, and quality of life.

📌 Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Rules:

✅ 1-3-6 Rule:
• 1 month: Hearing screening by 1 month of age
• 3 months: Confirm hearing loss diagnosis by 3 months
• 6 months: Start early intervention services by 6 months
Meeting these milestones is strongly linked to significantly better spoken language skills and overall communication outcomes than missing them.

⏱ 1-2-3 Rule (Accelerated Goal):
• 1 month: Screening
• 2 months: Diagnosis
• 3 months: Early intervention
Evidence suggests children who meet either timeline (1-3-6 or accelerated 1-2-3) show much stronger language development than those who don’t — highlighting how timely intervention creates opportunities for lifelong success.

✨ Why This Matters:
Babies learn language from day one. Early intervention taps into that critical window — giving children who are deaf or hard of hearing the best chance to reach their full potential in language, learning, and life.
