✨ Art that creates impact

At the Faranak Foundation’s 1st Annual Fundraising Gala 2026, we were honoured to celebrate the incredible talent of young artists and the generous hearts who chose to support their art.

🎨 Wendy, a young deaf & hard of hearing artist, generously donated her beautiful paintings to our auction. Our heartfelt thanks to Shahin and Ana for purchasing Wendy’s artwork and helping her art reach new homes. 💙

🎨 We are also deeply grateful to Saharnaz for donating two beautiful paintings and to Elham for donating another wonderful piece. Thank you to Lily Cheng, Zahra, and Azam for purchasing these artworks and supporting our mission.

🎨 And a very special thank you to Nazanin, a talented young artist who is deaf & hard of hearing and has low vision, for donating one of her beautiful paintings. We are so grateful to Aziz Khanom for purchasing her artwork and supporting Nazanin’s artistic journey. 🦋

✨ We are proud to introduce Sara Yahyaei, one of the featured artists and speakers at the Faranak Foundation’s First Annual Fundraising Gala.

Sara is a Deaf scholar, educator, and professional musician whose work and lived experience are deeply rooted in education, community development, Deaf identity, and the power of artistic expression.

Born profoundly hard of hearing and now Deaf, Sara holds master’s degrees from York University and Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). She is currently a second-year PhD candidate in Adult Education and Community Development at the University of Toronto, where she also works as a Graduate Teaching Assistant.

For three years, Sara taught and supported Deaf newcomers at the Bob Rumball Canadian Centre of Excellence for the Deaf, helping create accessible learning opportunities and supporting newcomers in their settlement, connection, and community integration.

And then there is music. 🎶

Sara began studying the tar at the age of nine and later expanded her musical training to tombak and daf. Over the years, music became not only a passion, but a professional path. Today, the daf is her primary professional instrument.

At our gala, Sara will first share her artistry through a special daf performance, followed by a brief reflection on her personal and professional journey as a Deaf woman, scholar, educator, and musician.

Her story is one of identity, education, community, perseverance, and finding meaningful ways to connect with others through both knowledge and music.

✨ On a night dedicated to connection, inclusion, and creating greater opportunities for children who are deaf & hard of hearing, Sara’s presence reminds us of the many ways lived experience, education, and art can help build a more inclusive community.

We are proud to introduce Esh*ta Agarwal as one of the speakers at the Faranak Foundation Fundraising Gala. 💛

Esh*ta is a deaf teenager with a cochlear implant and a student at Burlington Central High School. Her strong interest in accessibility, advocacy, STEM, and community engagement inspires her many academic and volunteer pursuits.

Her research on hearing loss and assistive technology was presented at the Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair. She is also actively involved in her school’s Equity Team, Robotics, STEM Today, UNICEF, and Brain Bee, and volunteers with VOICE to support outreach and community engagement.

Esh*ta is passionate about creating inclusive communities where every child has the opportunity to communicate, learn, and thrive.

We look forward to hearing this remarkable young advocate share her valuable experiences and perspective at the Faranak Foundation Gala. ✨

We are proud to introduce the inspiring and innovative artist Wendy Lu. 🎨✨

Wendy is a hard-of-hearing, Taiwan-born, Toronto-based multimedia artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts from York University. Her work transforms personal experience into a compelling and distinctive visual language.

Her multidisciplinary practice includes drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, mixed media, illustration, and digital art. Through her work, Wendy explores accessibility, communication, inclusion, mental well-being, technology, and sustainability—inviting audiences into dialogue, reflection, and positive change.

We are delighted that two of Wendy’s remarkable artworks will be featured in a special auction during the upcoming Faranak Foundation Fundraising Gala.

Join us in experiencing art through the perspective of an artist who uses creativity as a powerful vehicle for awareness, connection, and transformation. 💛
