Together Helping Women is a charitable organization that will help women that have been diagnosed with cancer, that live in a low-income situation, who do not have health insurance, and have expenses that are not covered by the health system (OHIP). Together Helping Women (THW) is a charity established to help support women who do not have health insurance, and have expenses that are not covered b
y the health system (OHIP), live in a low-income situation, and have been diagnosed with cancer and need support during their journey. Cancer may affect a woman that is caring for only herself; or it may affect a mother who needs to take care of herself, her family, and her home. THW wants to step in and provide that help to prevent any delays in treatment and recovery. Not only is financial help necessary, but often there are social, emotional and day-to-day needs required in the home. Support is given depending on the needs of each woman individually. It may be financial, to assist in the purchase of food, medication or accessories needed or it may be volunteer help, with meals, laundry or home cleaning. The provision of support helps reduces stress and allows women to focus on their own well-being and gives them the capacity to concentrate on their medical treatments and recovery. Founder Ana Pereira is a survivor of breast cancer. After going through her diagnosis, treatments and recovery, she saw that there was a need to support women who lacked to help them through that difficult journey. Ana is dedicated to this cause and together with 3 women Kelly Malavasi and Helia Pereira they have formed "Together Helping Women".
