Canada's National Ballet School Excellence, access and inclusion are at the heart of NBS’ love of sharing dance.

At Canada’s National Ballet School (NBS), excellence, access and inclusion fuel our belief in sharing the transformational power of dance to change lives for the better. NBS is sharing dance through the Olympic-calibre training and holistic preparation of young dancers for careers on the world stage, and by successfully training teachers, ballet masters and artistic directors who hold posts in sch

ools and companies across Canada and around the globe. Within communities across Canada, NBS is sharing dance by empowering school teachers and community programmers in using dance to enhance kids’ fundamental movement skills, inspire creativity, and improve mental and emotional well-being. With in-person and video-streaming delivery models, NBS engages seniors to be more active, socially connected and confident through the artistic expression of dance. Whether you want to own the spotlight, or dance for the joy of it, you belong at NBS.

Thank you to everyone who made our fifth-annual NBS Block Party a day of joyful celebration! On May 30, more than 4,300 visitors joined us across the Betty Oliphant Theatre and the Celia Franca Centre campus for a day of dance, discovery, and community.

Together, we danced our way through the NBS Block Party’s biggest artistic program yet—featuring 24 workshops, 13 pop-up performances, and more than 930 workshop participants.

From young movers and older adults to dancers of all ages, abilities, and skill levels, the NBS campus was alive and moving all day long—and with behind-the-scenes access to classes, rehearsals, and our new In Conversation panel feature, the day was memorable for guests both on and off the dance floor.

Seeing the NBS Block Party come to life each year is a beautiful reminder that dance has the power to connect, inspire, and open doors.

Thank you to our 2026 NBS Block Party sponsors and supporters, without whom this free community festival would not be possible. Visit https://www.nbs-enb.ca/new-now/nbs-block-party/ to learn more about how you can help us continue to open our doors to thousands each year through a gift of any amount.

In observing National AccessAbility Week, we want to highlight our Adaptive Dance Program which offers adapted dance classes for dancers ages 3+ with diverse cognitive, physical and developmental needs.

Designed for those who may find traditional recreational dance programs inaccessible, the Adaptive Dance Program prioritizes individual expression to nurture confidence, creativity, and a sense of belonging through movement.
