At Canada’s National Ballet School (NBS), excellence, access and inclusion fuel our belief in sharing the transformational power of dance to change lives for the better. NBS is sharing dance through the Olympic-calibre training and holistic preparation of young dancers for careers on the world stage, and by successfully training teachers, ballet masters and artistic directors who hold posts in schools and companies across Canada and around the globe. Within communities across Canada, NBS is sharing dance by empowering school teachers and community programmers in using dance to enhance kids’ fundamental movement skills, inspire creativity, and improve mental and emotional well-being. With in-person and video-streaming delivery models, NBS engages seniors to be more active, socially connected and confident through the artistic expression of dance. Whether you want to own the spotlight, or dance for the joy of it, you belong at NBS.

NBS students return to the Fall for Dance North Festival stage!

October 22 - 24, 2026 our Company Life Program dancers will perform alongside graduates of Toronto Metropolitan University’s dance program in the Canadian premiere of Partita by Justin Peck as part of HEAR THE DANCE: Signature Programme 3 in this year’s Fall for Dance North Festival.

Partita is a folk dance for our times. Celebrating moments of intersection despite life’s angularities, the eight dancers oscillate between solo and unison movements, embodying the a ca****la voices of Caroline Shaw’s Pulitzer Prize-winning composition.

Join us for the Indigenous Youth Discovery Series: Intro to Ballet!

Led by instructor Caitlin Marziali, the Discovery Series is a dance program designed for Indigenous Youth ages 6-18 who are interested in exploring the world of ballet.

Today NBS observes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day to remember and reflect on the intergenerational trauma and tragic legacy of residential schools and cultural genocide of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. Our staff and students gathered for an assembly to listen to the stories of survivors and communities impacted by the residential school system across generations, and reflect on our responsibility to play an active role in reconciliation as both artists and citizens of the world. Students also participated in a reflective creative activity to express their own commitments to advancing truth and reconciliation.
