Today, Ankole Folks Canada honours the Survivors of residential schools, remembers the children who never returned home, and stands with their families and communities.
Children were separated from their families, cultures, languages and communities. Their stories remind us why family, identity, culture, safety and belonging matter.
Today, let us not only wear orange, let us listen, learn and act.
When a child speaks, listen.
When a child needs protection, act.
When a child expresses their identity and culture, respect it.
Every child deserves to be heard, protected, respected and to belong—then, now and every day.
