Happy International Women’s Day from Ankole Folks Canada.

This year we celebrate under the theme Give to Gain. When we support women, uplift their voices, and create opportunities for them to grow, our communities become stronger.

Today we celebrate all the women who give their time, love, leadership, and wisdom to build better communities.

Celebrating Christmas is seasonal… but celebrating it together as a community hits differently! ❤️🎄

On the 22nd, Ankole Folks—together with Women of Valor International—held our first-ever Christmas Family Banquet Dinner in Scarborough, and wow… what a night!

We had over 600 people in one space—families, children, youth, parents, elders—everyone coming together to celebrate love, culture, and community.

The entertainment was top tier! 💃🏾🕺🏾
✨ Traditional dances
✨ Soulful and angelic singing
✨ Our own youth showcasing their incredible talents

And the food? 😍
A beautiful menu enriched with Ugandan cuisine and traditional recipe twists. Pure magic!

This was more than a dinner—it was:
🌟 A community reunion
🌟 A social networking moment
🌟 A safe space for expression
🌟 A night where everyone shined in their own way

Thank you to all our partners, volunteers, performers, and beloved guests.
We made history together!

What a beautiful experience! 💫

Ankole Folks was honoured to join our brothers and sisters at Uganda Martyrs Church for a powerful praise and worship service led by Rev. Robins. The atmosphere was full of love, cultural pride, childhood memories, and heavenly voices. Seeing everyone in traditional attire was truly heart-warming!

A big thank you to the leadership of Uganda Martyrs Church (UCC) for hosting us and making us feel at home.

May God continue to bless this unity.

*Remembrance Day | Honoring Our Heroes*
Today, we pause to remember those who gave their lives for peace, freedom, and dignity.
Their courage echoes through generations, reminding us that community, unity, and sacrifice are the pillars of a better tomorrow.
"We remember not just with sorrow but with gratitude. Their legacy lives on in us."

Inspire. Play. Live. Reconnect.

At exactly 7:00 AM, our ground team touched base at Ashbridge Bay Park to prepare for a day that was never just about games. Qweshunga Canada 2025 was about reclaiming joy, showcasing talent, and rebuilding the bridges between generations through shared memories and play.

We came not just to play, but to heal, to network, and to strengthen our cultural identity. It was a space where children and adults laughed, danced, learned, and truly connected as one community.

Having Qweshunga Uganda in the house made this celebration intentional, rooted, and deeply meaningful. Their presence reminded us of our shared heritage, and the power of unity across continents.

Thank you to everyone who showed up physically, emotionally, and culturally. You made this first Canadian edition one to remember.

Let’s keep building together one game, one memory, one story at a time.

Qweshunga wasn’t just an event—it was a cultural reconnection! 🌍✨ We came together to laugh, play, dance, and revive the childhood memories that shaped us.

From sack races to traditional food, every moment was a celebration of who we are and where we come from. Culture connects us. Qweshunga reminded us why it matters. 💫
