🇨🇦🇷🇼 Want to run with Canadian Olympian Duan “Pocket” Asemota? 👀 Check out the Pocket Run 5K on October 3rd in Ajax, just East of Toronto.

Run, walk, bring a friend - everyone is welcome, whether it’s your first 5K or you’re chasing a new PB 🙌

This Athletics Ontario sanctioned event includes chip timing, a race shirt and a finisher medal 🏅 And, we’re introducing the Fastest 40 dash after the 5K!

The idea for this community run was inspired by Duan’s visit to Rwanda last November. Net proceeds from the run support Right To Play’s work with children and youth in Rwanda.

The 2027 race season will be here before you know it! Feel confident that Road & Trail Running at Athletics Ontario has you covered! 🏃🏾🏃🏼‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃🏽‍♀️

✅ Athletics Ontario has an established race sanctioning process designed to give runners that added level of confidence when choosing a race. Sanctioned events are reviewed against established requirements related to event organization, safety, insurance and other operational standards.

👀 Ontario runners can look for the Athletics Ontario Sanction logo before registering. The logo indicates that the event has gone through the provincial sport governing body’s sanctioning process.

🧷 To be extra safe, check whether the event appears on our sanctioned race calendar (link in bio) to avoid illegitimate races.

🔗 You can also head to the link in our bio to provide feedback on any road and trail race in Ontario & help us better understand the participant experience. 🙏

The Ontario 5K Championships are coming to the streets of Toronto on Saturday, October 17th, as part of the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon Weekend, in partnership with Canada Running Series!

The 5K is officially sold out, but 30 additional spots have been opened exclusively for competitive road runners in Ontario. This is a limited opportunity to line up against some of the province’s top athletes and compete for an Ontario Championship title.

The entry fee is $79.49 (+HST), and prizes will be awarded to the top Male, Female, and Nonbinary athletes, with age-group prizes also available (details to be announced).

To be eligible, athletes must:
✔️Be an Ontario resident
✔️Hold a valid Athletics Ontario membership
✔️Have placed in their age group at an Athletics Canada-certified race in 2026

Interested in securing one of these 30 spots?
👉 Email [email protected] with the subject line “Ontario 5K Championships” and include a link to your qualifying race result. The deadline to express interest is Sep 18.
✨ Spots are limited and will be awarded to eligible athletes at Athletics Ontario’s discretion
✨ Selected athletes will be notified via email by Sep 25 and provided with a registration link to complete their entry
