Running gels are designed to easily tear open, but sometimes, when you’re tired, running at a fast pace, in a race environment, and/or have frozen hands, making small, extra cuts makes them cleaner and easier to open.
Here’s how:
👉 cut a little farther than the factory cuts on both sides (using clean scissors)
👉 make the cuts the day of your run (if you cut too far into the seal, there’s a chance the gel could spoil)
👉 only cut partially into the seal, and cut horizontally (you’re trying to encourage it to tear straight across)
👉 stash the tab on your run (don’t litter 💚)
