To the One World Family, "Hit me back @ [email protected] "
I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately about the "Sanctuary" we built together - from the studios of Central Tech to the studios at Georges Vanier and the stages of the MLK shows.
Farley Flex once said I "teach life" but the truth is, you all taught me. I’ve realized that the spirit of togetherness we shared wasn't just a moment in time; it was a blueprint for how the world should be.
I’m reaching out today to announce a new initiative we're beginning: Imagine One World.
This isn't just a trip down memory lane. It’s a project to bear witness to what we accomplished and to preserve the "Human Juice" that no machine can ever replace. Here is what is currently in motion:
The Legacy Song: We are preparing to record a definitive version of Treasure of the Heart. I’m working with Sam Williams to produce this, and we want it to be organic and live. We are looking for a choir of OWYAP graduates and instrumentalists to join us in this "Shared Run."
The Compilation Album: We are looking at the possibility of a "One World" compilation, featuring the prescient music you created in those studios 20 and 30+ years ago, as well as new creations that reflect on those years and on our present journey.
The Reunion Concert: Down the road (2026 or 2027), I am imagining a reunion event where we can launch the album, perform the legacy song, and stand in that "Place of Respect" one more time.
The Documentation: A legacy ebook, web portal, or documentary to anchor this history for the future.
How you can help right now:
Spread the word; forward this message: Add your voice. Please share this post with any OWYAP grads and friends who aren't on this page. Many years have passed, so I need to rebuild our list of names and contact information.
Signal your interest: If you want to add your presence—whether in the choir, as a musician, as an organizer, to gather again, or just to share your story for the archive—drop a comment below or send me a message: [email protected]
Our music was never meant to be "captured"; it was meant to be lived. Let’s live it one more time.
With much respect and love,
Lash
TREASURE OF THE HEART
Let us take a moment to consider
How our light shines upon the world and ask ourselves:
(CHORUS)
How can we know if our life has been good?
Is it fame, status, or gold?
How can we know if our life has been good?
The treasure's here within us.
(V1)
As we write the book of life and we reflect on what we've done
As we turn the page and look ahead, can we know what we've done is good?
(CHORUS)
(V2)
Page after page, it tells the tale of the seasons' changing tides
Of the choices we have made and the things we may have left undone
(CHORUS)
(BRIDGE pt1)
Now we are here to share with you the feeling in our heart
And thank you for the time we shared while we may be apart
(BRIDGE pt2)
As we carry on the paths that lie ahead, still our thoughts are shared
No time exists between us,
and should we meet again one day
The years will melt away...
(CHORUS x3)
The treasure's here within ... our hearts.
