Today, February 23, we are proud to share that Mayor Olivia Chow and the City of Toronto have officially proclaimed Language Advocacy Day.
On behalf of the Association of Professional Language Interpreters (APLI), we extend our sincere gratitude for this meaningful recognition. This proclamation highlights the vital role that professional interpreters play in ensuring equitable access to services, justice, healthcare, education, and community life for linguistically diverse communities.
Language access is not a luxury — it is a right.
Today we celebrate advocacy, inclusion, and the power of communication to build stronger, more connected communities. 🌍
Thank you to the City of Toronto for acknowledging the essential work of language professionals and for supporting linguistic equity across our city.
Happy Language Advocacy Day!
