This year’s Founders Day at Camp Aguinaldo brought together grads, families, and friends of the Long Gray Line for a celebration of tradition and fellowship.

We are grateful to Colonel Ben Wallen, who traveled from New York to share his inspiring message: West Pointers are united by their ability to solve poorly defined problems with relentless pursuit of excellence, and by the shared experience that binds every class together.

We were honored by the presence of:
MGen Arsenio Sadural (AFP)
BGen Stephen Agtoto (PMA)
Former DILG Sec. Rafael Alunan
Mr. Philip Asturias
Mr. Gil Miguel Puyat

And of course, our Filipino grads and families — from Joey Flores (Class of ’74), the oldest grad present, to Ashton Cooksey and Carl Wheeler (Class of 2010), the youngest.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in keeping the spirit of Duty, Honor, Country alive. The Long Gray Line stands strong in the Philippines! 💛🖤

From the Archives:

In June 1976, the West Point Society of Manila gathered at the Army‑Navy Club to celebrate West Point’s 174th Birthday. The guest of honor was General Richard Stilwell, Commander‑in‑Chief of U.S. Forces Korea, joined by General Fidel V. Ramos and dozens of West Pointers and their families.

Fifty years later, we continue the tradition. In 2026, we celebrate 224 years since the founding of West Point - The U.S. Military Academy, our beloved Alma Mater.

According to the West Point Association of Graduates, more than 110 Founders Day celebrations are held worldwide each year. Manila proudly stands among the larger gatherings in the Asia‑Pacific, honoring the Long Gray Line with fellowship, heritage, and service.

From 174 to 224, our Society remains steadfast: sustaining tradition, strengthening bonds, and celebrating the enduring values of Duty, Honor, Country.

Happy Founders Day! 👏

in 1802, Thomas Jefferson signed a document declaring "that the said Corps, when so organized, shall be stationed at West Point in the State of New York and shall constitute a military academy."

The West Point Society of the Philippines proudly announces its newly appointed Society President — Mark Posadas, Class of 2004! 🇵🇭🇺🇸

Unanimously elected by the Board of Advisors, Mark brings leadership rooted in Duty, Honor, Country. A constant presence and the Society’s longtime Secretary, he has been the workhorse silently working behind the scenes for years.

He takes the reins from Consul Alexander Joseph Estomo ’04, the Society’s outgoing President and current First Secretary and Consul at the Philippine Embassy in Canada, based in Ottawa.

Congratulations, Mark!

We were honored to welcome a delegation of West Point cadets visiting Manila as part of their AIAD (Academic Individual Advanced Development) program with the West Point SOSH Department. The group was led by Major Rachel Kim, who guided the cadets through a meaningful cultural and academic immersion in the Philippines.

The West Point Society of the Philippines was proud to host these future leaders and share stories, insights, and fellowship. Manila-based Old Grads from the Classes of ’76, ’77, ’80, ’82, ’04, and ’25 came together to connect with the cadets; a true example of the Long Gray Line reaching across generations and continents.

Always a great opportunity to grip hands and show what it means to be part of this timeless brotherhood and sisterhood. We look forward to seeing these cadets return to the Philippines someday.

Go Army! Beat Navy! 🫏🏈

The West Point Society of the Philippines Salutes Our Newest Leaders and Members.

The West Point Society of the Philippines (WPSP) extends its most resounding congratulations to two exceptional young men who have brought immense honor to our nation: 2LT EMERJAN C. ALVIOR PA and 2LT RAFAEL D.M. MUÑOZ PA, proud graduates of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Class of 2025!

Their journey is a powerful testament to the Filipino spirit of excellence and perseverance. Originally esteemed members of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 2024, these outstanding individuals embraced the challenge of an international military education, excelling and now emerging as commissioned officers in the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

2LT Alvior, armed with a BS Major in International Affairs, and 2LT Muñoz, with a BS Major in Economics, have navigated years of rigorous academic, military, and physical training. They've embodied the discipline, intellect, and character demanded by two of the world's premier military academies. Their transformation from eager Cadets to resolute Commissioned Officers is an inspiration to us all.

Today, they don more than just their hard-earned diplomas and ranks; they join the storied "Long Gray Line" – an unbroken chain of West Point graduates committed to Duty, Honor, Country. They carry with them the legacy of leadership, integrity, and selfless service that defines this esteemed institution, and they bring a unique Filipino perspective to this global brotherhood and sisterhood.

To 2LT Alvior and 2LT Muñoz: As you embark on your distinguished careers serving the Filipino people, know that the West Point Society of the Philippines stands firmly with you. We are more than an alumni organization; we are a family. We watch out for, guide, and look after each of our graduates through our robust network and unwavering support system. You are never alone.
Your achievement echoes across the archipelago and beyond. You are the embodiment of future leadership, and we eagerly anticipate the significant contributions you will make to our beloved Philippines.

The West Point Society of the Philippines proudly celebrated Founders Day Manila 2025, bringing together graduates across generations to honor the Long Gray Line. Our youngest graduate represented the Class of 2024, while our esteemed Oldest Grad hailed from the Class of 1963, reflecting the enduring legacy of West Point.

At the same time, in New York City, Major Floren Herrera ’13—last year’s Nininger Awardee for Valor in Combat—had the distinct honor of serving as the keynote speaker for the West Point Society of New York. He is the first Filipino national to address the society, marking a historic moment for our community. Joining him were our Filipino cadets currently at the Academy, underscoring the strong ties between West Point and the Philippines.

From Manila to New York, from the barracks to the battlefield, Filipino West Pointers continue to lead and inspire. No matter where we are, we uphold the ideals of Duty, Honor, Country—proving that the Long Gray Line isn’t just about where we came from, but how we move forward.

When the Long Gray Line stretches from the Philippines to the Swiss Alps, you know it's more than just a network — it’s a brotherhood.

Cadet Emerjan and Cadet Rafael, First Class cadets from West Point, recently traveled to Switzerland to visit their senior, Mario, a fellow West Point graduate and member of the West Point Society of the Philippines (WPSP). This visit underscores the global strength of WPSP, whose influence extends far beyond the Philippines and West Point itself.

From career guidance to personal support, the WPSP continues to make an impact worldwide — proving that the bonds forged at West Point are truly global.

From our Rockbound Highland Home to the Snow-Capped Mountains of the Alps to the Tropical Beaches in the Philippines — and to the mountains of the Northern Cordillera of Luzon — the WPSP Long Gray Line endures.

Throwback to a Cake, a Saber, and 50 Pushups

Tomorrow is West Point Founders Day, but I’m getting ahead of the formation to revisit this gem from 10 years ago. Tradition dictates that the youngest and oldest grads present cut the cake together—and in 2014, that meant me (Class of ’04) and the legendary Former Philippine President Fidel Valdez Ramos (Class of ’50).

We did it the only proper way: with a saber. Then came the real test—not the cake, but the 50 pushups we knocked out afterward. FVR didn’t just keep up; he set the pace.

A decade later, I still wonder: was I celebrating history, or just being outperformed by a West Pointer 54 years my senior?

Happy Founders Day to the Long Gray Line! Here’s to more years of tradition, camaraderie, and slightly questionable physical challenges.

posted with permission from Joe Dado class of 1955. A reflection on his time as a West Point cadet.

God gives His blessings in a balanced way.

At West Point, I was not a strong, smart, or snappy cadet. But I was fairly good in academic studies.

I was in the lowest 10% in the following:
- Physical Education. I had only one sports award, in Intramural Boxing in the 127 lbs. class where very few cadets compete.
- Conduct, based on demerits. I walked more than 100 punishment tours for excess demerits in a month.
- Aptitude for the Service. Basis of cadet rank. I was a Cadet Sgt. in my first class year and a platoon asst. platoon sgt. and platoon guide.

But I graduated No. 158 out of 458 members of my class or in the upper 34.5%.

My highest grades were in:
- English 25 of 473 Upper 5%.
- Math 35 of 507 Upper 6%.
- Military Law 35 of 471 Upper 7%.

My lowest grades were in;
- Tactics 217 of 471 Upper 46%.
- Mechanics of Fluids 270 of 487 Upper 55%.
- History of Military Art 277 of 471 Upper 59%.
