About us

Friends of Charles G. Williams Park is a group of interested residents of the Parkdale-Roncesvalles neighbourhood who are users of the Charles G.Williams Park (at the corner of Wabash and Sorauren Aves ) and have formed as an affiliate of the Friends of Sorauren Park to determine and advocate for the local needs and desires during the playground’s redevelopment.

We believe that the neighbourhood has a role in creating its own environment and we believe the playground is a valuable setting which serves to stitch together the various age, income and ethnic backgrounds of our community and enhancing diversity through play.

We see this playground as rich in potential and a place-making opportunity!

While we collaborate with the City of Toronto Parks, Recreation and Forestry Division on activities such as identifying park issues and opportunities, arranging volunteer garbage/toy clean up days and playground maintenance of the playground, our primary purpose is to help steer and drive the playground redevelopment (which includes the wading pool). The redevelopment is an approved and funded City project intended to start construction in 2020.
