Minister Paul Calandra, how long will you neglect Black students?

Dreams Delayed is about the voices too often ignored in education — students, whose futures were impacted by systemic racism.

These are real stories. Real experiences. Real consequences.

Happy Mother’s Day to the Black mothers who lead with strength, love, resilience, and grace.

Your care shapes generations. Your legacy lives through every Black child you uplift.

Labeling Black students as “gang members” is anti-Black and unacceptable.
Full stop.
An anti-Black Minister has no place leading our children’s education.

This is not one incident.
This is a pattern.

A 7-year-old Black, neurodivergent child was harmed by the very people meant to protect her.

We demand a full, independent investigation.
We demand accountability.

Our children deserve safety. Not silence.

Black educators were harmed in a space meant to be safe.

A PRP “Safe Schools” presentation trained staff to identify “gangs.”
Every example shown was Black.
Blackness was linked to criminality.

This harm doesn’t stay in the room—it follows Black students into classrooms.

This is a pattern. The bias is systemic.

Police do not belong in schools.
No to Bill 33.

NOT GUILTY.

The court confirmed this was an accident—not a crime.

This should have never reached a courtroom.
A Black child was singled out, adultified, and pulled into the criminal system for something that was never criminal—while grieving his mom and trying to remain a child.

The community has been asking who needs to be held accountable—here it is.
Now he needs support to heal and rebuild.

Dreams are being delayed — not by chance, but by systems.

We have the data. We’ve heard the stories.
And still, nothing changes.

The Ministry of Education has stayed silent. That silence has consequences.

Now it’s our turn to be loud.

Flood your local MPP’s inbox. Demand they speak up. Demand action.

It takes less than a minute.

Trial Day 2:

A child’s play has been reframed as a crime.

What began as a schoolyard game
has resulted in the criminalization of a Black child.

This process carries real consequences —
emotional strain, mental stress,
and disruption during a critical stage of development.

This is what delayed dreams can look like.

Decision in two weeks.

Day 1 showed what we already knew —
this case shouldn’t even be happening.

Kids were playing. The school knew.

Only one child was punished.
A Black child.

Charged at 13. Now on trial at 15.

Community showed up.
We keep going tomorrow.

‼️ Many of you have asked for the family’s gofundme - we are working on getting a link to share with you! Stay tuned.
