On International Women’s Day, we honour the women who have shaped Ukraine's past, those who defend it today, and those who will build its future. Their courage, remind us that the story of Ukraine has always been carried forward by the strength of its women. The Ukrainian Canadian Congress is extremely grateful and proud of the women who dedicate their lives to our communities, churches, organizations, careers and to helping Ukraine.

We urge the Canadian Paralympic Committee to reverse their shameful decision to participate in the Opening Ceremony with Russia. As Ukraine has urged the world, “Boycott the ceremony – defend dignity!”

Olga (Wozniak) Chemij, Pylypiuk, passed away peacefully at Humber River Hospital on February 16, 2026. at the age of 100. Preceded in death by her first husband Jerry Chemij Sr, and her late husband Marko Pylypiuk. Loving mother to Terry (Luba), Ronald (Mary), William (Holly) and the late Jerry Jr. (Cynthia). Cherished Baba to 12 grandchildren and Pra Baba to 13 great grandchildren.

Olga was proud of her Ukrainian heritage always sharing stories of her homeland with her family. For many years she was an active member of OYK and the UNF in addition to being a founding parishioner of St. Demetrius Church.

Friends will be received at the Cardinal Funeral Homes, 92 Annette St. Toronto, ON on Sunday, February 22 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Panakhyda will be held at 7:30 pm on Sunday. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 23 at 10 am at Saint Demetrius the Great Martyr Ukrainian Catholic Church, 135 La Rose Ave, Etobicoke, ON. Interment to Follow at Prospect Cemetery

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Help Us Help the Children.

Full house! Sold out of varenyky, 19 dozen pumpushky eaten. 36 potted poinsettias went home with winners & 2 of the Picard baskets full of nuts & chocolates were won by 2 full card winners. What a night!! Thank you to everyone who attended and worked this event.
