A WALK TO REMOTHER - PRE MOTHER'S DAY HIKE AT EVERGREEN BRICKWORKS

To β€œremother” is to reclaim nurturing, whether from the land, from community, or within. Come, slow down, reflect and reconnect.

What if you gifted yourself the care you needed for Mother's Day?

Join Brown Girl Outdoor World for a slow, guided, reflective hike through the beautiful nature-centered Evergreen Brickworks. This hike is for anyone navigating the tenderness and complexity that Mother’s Day can bring: those celebrating, grieving, healing, resisting, or redefining what it means to mother and be mothered. Whether you're a parent, child, caregiver, or simply a human being doing your best, there is space for you on this walk.

Come connect with folks existing in the expansiveness of what mothering can look like, regardless of traditional narratives.

MOMMY!! IT'S OVER!! 😭 😭

ON March 1, we wrapped up Season 5 of the BGOW Learn to Ski program! This program provides 15 women/femme diverse folks the opportunity to learn to ski at one of the the most beautiful places Caledon Ski Club.

With tremendous support from Salomon, Caledon Ski Club, Arc'teryx & Skiis and Biikes, the participants were equipped with everything they needed to succeed in the program - significantly reduced costs, belonging through community, and the skills needed to go from the magic carpet to making skilled turns on green and blue runs.

We're not only welcoming participants. We are welcoming individuals who care β€” about each other, the environment and the person next to them on the chairlift.

Skiing is a fundamnetal part of BGOW and as we grow, we can only foresee the need for more time, opportunities and space to welcome even more people to the sport. That's why we continue to build partnerships that see the vision and tangibly support the work!

Much gratitude to the participants who show up, partners and staff who invest, and a growing interest in the sport from our community!

Year 5 is a wrap - were just getting started!

Ski you next season for something even more beautiful!

BGOW's inaugural π‘©π’π’‚π’„π’Œ π‘―π’Šπ’”π’•π’π’“π’š:𝑭𝒖𝒍𝒍 𝑺𝒆𝒏𝒅 event was everything we hoped it would be and then some! This event was designed to center our collective joy in a space that has historically welcomed our rhythm but not our people.

Being together at Mount St. Louis Moonstone to celebrate Black History month allowed us to affirm that we belong. Our music, our vibes, our PRESENCE adds undeniable vibrance on the slopes and WE are here for it.

From the moment we met at our pick-up spot, to the deep laughter and shared encouragement, we knew this would not be just another ski day.

Through relationship with Salomon, participants from joined us to celebrate the power of representation and what it means to show up together.

Lessons, new skills, group rides, lunch hangs, and photo ops provided just the right level of excitement. The energy from the outdoors carried the joy into the lodge to après for moments full of laughter, giveaways, connection, and celebration.

Deepest gratitude to for their support in ensuring that transportation was not a barrier to participation and for showing up in person. This work isn’t done alone. It requires the commitment of those who have access to show up with us in meaningful ways - and that you did!

A huge shout out to and for their in-kind contributions to making this day just that much more special.

Black History – WE ARE IT! Winter, we in it!

Change. It takes a village.

This work has always required multiple people working to create impact. The building, the showing up, the demanding more for our communities has always been to bring about something meaningful, intentional.

These orgs have been cultivating joy, community, opportunities.

We're taking the space, this Black History Month, to highlight a few Black-led Canadian organizations filling in the gaps where equity denied groups have carved their own path:

The future asks many of us to do something for all of us.

This is not meant to be an exhaustive list of organizations who are showing up and doing the hard work, often without the recognition deserved. Feel free to tag any others in the comments.
