The Ethiopian Association kindly asks all newcomers who use the Association’s address for postal services to please visit the Association to pick up any mail that has been received for you.

Several letters are currently awaiting pickup, including correspondence from Immigration and other government offices. Some may contain important information or deadlines.

To ensure your mail reaches you, please pick it up this week. Any mail remaining after this week will be returned to the sender.

participated in Toronto Newcomer Day, joining thousands of newcomers, community organizations, service providers, public officials, and residents from across Toronto.

The event provided a wonderful opportunity to share our story—our history, our impact, and our vision for the future. Throughout the day, we connected with newcomers seeking support and information, strengthened relationships with community partners, and showcased the important role our Association continues to play in serving Ethiopian Canadians and the broader community.

One of the most heartwarming moments was seeing the faces of many Ethiopian newcomers light up when they recognized our booth. Their pride, excitement, and sense of belonging reminded us why our work matters and why community spaces remain so important.

We were also inspired by the remarks delivered by Mayor Olivia Chow, who reflected on her own journey as an immigrant and highlighted the contributions that newcomers make to the social, cultural, and economic fabric of Toronto.

Thank you to the organizers, volunteers, partners, and everyone who stopped by our booth. We look forward to continuing to build a welcoming, inclusive, and thriving community for all.

A meaningful moment of leadership, continuity, and progress for the Ethiopian community in the GTA and surrounding regions.

Our outgoing and incoming Presidents of the Ethiopian Association in the GTA & Surrounding Regions officially completed the handover of keys, files, and organizational responsibilities.

We are especially proud to witness a powerful and inspiring transition — a woman president handing the baton to another young and vibrant woman leader.

Thank you, President Meseret Demeke, for your immense dedication, leadership, and service to the community. Your contributions will leave a lasting impact.

And welcome to President Rahel Gettu as she begins this important journey of leadership and service. We look forward to a new chapter of growth, unity, and community empowerment under your leadership.
