The February 2026 session of Art and Chat 🎨✨ went international for inspiration on our project, and made our own personal Asafo flags. We discussed where we came from, who were part of our communities, what stories we wanted to create physical forms of, and what intentions we wanted to set with them. *Swipe* to see how our artists brought their experiences to life!

In January 2026, our Art and Chat 🎨✨ volunteers and artists created paper self portraits as we discussed our reflections for the past and present year. We had meaningful conversations about moments we were grateful and hopeful for.

Today we’re throwing it back to our second session of Art and Chat 🎨✨, in December 2025. We had a lovely time painting tote bags and making jewelry, while discussing our favourite ways to take care of our mental health individually and in our communities.

We also had the honour of being joined by .ca, a non profit providing arts based mental health programming and support for East African communities in Toronto. Please check out their page or website (arthealth.ca) to learn more about the incredible work they do!

As we get ready for a new season of Art and Chat 🎨✨, we’re throwing it back and celebrating how we started.

November 2025 we hosted our first session with a group of incredible Mental Health volunteers and participants/artists from our WHIWH-CHC community. After learning about the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy Program, we talked about mental health stigmas and barriers and created together. It was the beginning of a beautiful journey that we’re so excited to continue!
