What happens when you bring together a room full of changemakers? The possibilities become endless.

𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸 was more than a networking event—it was a celebration of the community that the Golden Balangay Awards has built over the past decade. From past awardees and nominees to community leaders and supporters, the room was filled with 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨, 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙣𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨, and a 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙫𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 for uplifting the next generation of Filipino-Canadians across the country.

A special thank you to Samuel Peralta's Chronicles for sharing the incredible announcement that the stories and legacy of the Golden Balangay Awards will become part of the 𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲𝘅, preserving our community’s achievements for generations to come—even beyond Earth.

Thank you to Dean and Ruby’s Cafe for letting us use your space to host the event!

To everyone who attended, thank you for your energy, your ideas, and your unwavering commitment to building a stronger community. This is only the beginning. As Laureate Link continues to travel across Canada, we look forward to creating even more opportunities to connect, collaborate, and inspire one another.

If you’d like to be part of this growing community, we invite you to join us at the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 on 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 in 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗻, 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗘𝗱𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱. We can’t wait to welcome you. For more information, head over to Golden Balangay Awards

Ottawa, 13 August 2025 — Philippine Ambassador-Designate to Canada Jose Victor V. Chan-Gonzaga met virtually with the leaders of the Golden Balangay Foundation (GBF) to discuss opportunities for collaboration in strengthening the voice and visibility of the Filipino diaspora in Canada.

GBF President and Chairman Ronnie Dela Gana, Co-founder Jovito Favila, and Program Head Claire Dela Gana briefed the Ambassador-Designate on the Foundation’s history and programs. Established in 2021 following the success of the Golden Balangay Awards launched in 2017, GBF has since expanded its advocacy to include community development initiatives such as the Filipino-Canadian National Scholarship Program, launched in partnership with Kabangka Canada in 2024.
