Goats help manage landscapes across the city. Recently, goats trimmed 16 km of Scarborough’s Meadoway in the Gatineau Hydro Corridor, a project managed by The Toronto Regional Conservation Authority (TRCA). Two years ago, the GCT in partnership with the TRCA, installed the $1million Entrance Garden and was at the goats’ event to show our support for native and sustainable garden practices. The Meadoway makes a lovely outing and accessible family walk.

Join the Garden Club of Toronto at the Graze the Meadoway event on Sunday, September 27, 2006 at Thomson Memorial Park on Brimley Avenue from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM.

The Meadoway is welcoming some very cute new caretakers this fall! As part of a pilot research project, our partners at the Toronto Regional Conservation Authority are bringing sheep and goats to The Meadoway to explore sustainable ways to manage and maintain urban meadows.

The Garden Club will be one of many community partners at the event promoting the GCT Entrance Garden on The Meadoway and the publication Beautiful by Nature - Design Tips for Native Plant Gardens - which we contributed to with our partners at Project Swallowtail and the City of Toronto.
