Itsekiri Association of Canada A non political organisation for Itsekiris in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario Canada, dedicated to promoting Itsekiri culture.

Itsekiri Association of Canada (IAC), is a non political, non-profit entity located in Toronto, Ontario. It is the umbrella organization of all regional Itsekiri Associations in Canada. IAC seeks to promote the Itsekiri culture and encourage networking among Itsekiris in the Greater Toronto Area and wherever Itsekiris are found. We are a micro minority ethnic group with one people, one language and one heritage!!!

The Warri Kingdom witnessed a moment of profound historical importance today as His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR, the Olu of Warri, conferred upon Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria the prestigious chieftaincy title of Utukpa-Oritse of Warri Kingdom.

Today’s investiture carried a deeply personal and emotional significance, as this occasion was, in every sense, an official homecoming. Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, proudly traces her maternal roots to the Itsekiri, making her one of Warri Kingdom’s most distinguished daughters. In welcoming her home through this investiture, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III reaffirmed the kingdom’s enduring pride in her journey, her dedicated service to the Nigerian people, and the grace and dignity with which she has represented Nigeria as its First Lady both nationally and globally.

Her Excellency was also decorated with the Royal Order of Iwere (ROI), the second-highest honor within the Warri Kingdom, a rare and exceptional distinction reserved for only the most esteemed sons and daughters and allies of the Itsekiri nation.

The grandeur of the event was heightened by a remarkable gathering of dignitaries who attended the ceremony. Among those present were His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Executive Governor of Delta State; His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife; His Royal Majesty Benjamin Ikenchukwu Keagborekuzi I, the Dein of Agbor, along with other respected Royal Fathers, senior government officials, and distinguished guests from across Nigeria.

Warri Kingdom remains a shining example of culture, tradition, and royal excellence, and today’s ceremony has added another shining chapter to its rich legacy. His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, extends heartfelt congratulations to the new Ojoye, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and prays that the bond between the First Lady and her ancestral kingdom will continue to produce progress, unity, and prosperity for the Itsekiri nation and Nigeria as a whole.

Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, the Olu of Warri went on an inspection tour of the Warri Trans Ode-Itsekiri Road and Access Bridges project which has finally been completed after 20 years.

The 20.9km road branches off to Ugbodede, Usele, Ajigba, Inorin, Orugbo, Ode-Itsekiri and Ifiekporo, Aja-Etan, Ikeren and finally on Ubeji communities -all in Warri South Local Government Area.

The road is set to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2026.

On behalf of the End-of-Year Committee and the Excos of the Itsekiri Association of Canada, I want to say a big thank you to everyone of you. We just concluded our end-of-year event, and honestly, it was a success because of your support, your presence, and your unity.

Thank you for showing up, thank you for standing with us, and thank you for always pushing the association forward. Every little effort you made on the event —whether you came early, helped out, participated in the Omoko or Ukegwa dance performance, and the Ex-presidents for their support 🙏 and every word of encouragement coming from members and pass leaders, did not go unnoticed.

We appreciate you all from the bottom of our hearts.
Let’s continue to grow, celebrate, and support each other as one IAC family. 💙

Earlier today, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Emmanuel Ejim-Emekah, paid a courtesy visit to His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, the Olu of Warri, to felicitate with him on his fourth coronation anniversary.
During the visit, Major General Ejim-Emekah emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between the Nigerian Army and the traditional institution. He also prayed for the Olu of Warri’s long life, abundant grace, and divine wisdom to continue leading the kingdom in peace and safety.
In response, His Majesty warmly welcomed Major General Ejim-Emekah, expressed appreciation for his service to the nation, and assured him of his continuous support to the Nigerian Army, affirming that his doors are always open.
The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a commemorative plaque to His Majesty. Accompanying the GOC was Major M. L. Salman, Commanding Officer of the 3 Battalion, Nigerian Army.
