Spelling Bee of Canada

Spelling Bee of Canada Spelling Bee of Canada (SBOC) organizes annual families of schools and community spelling bees aimed at youth 6 to 14 years of age.

SBOC was established in response to a need within the community for a stimulating, educational program, outside the regular school curriculum, which would focus specifically on English language basics.

💚🐝 Today, we recognize World Mental Health Day.

Mental health matters at every age, and it’s never too early to teach children the importance of emotional well-being, kindness, and self-care.

At Spelling Bee of Canada, we believe that nurturing young minds goes beyond education and literacy. It’s also about creating supportive environments where children feel heard, valued, and confident to be themselves.

🌼 A gentle reminder for our young learners and families:
💛 Be kind to yourself.
🌿 Take breaks when you need them.
💬 Talk about how you feel.
🌻 Make time for things that bring you joy.
❤️ Remember, you are enough.

A healthy mind helps you learn, grow, and shine. ✨

Together, let’s continue building a generation that values both learning and mental well-being.

Today, we celebrate the educators who give young people one of life’s most powerful tools: literacy. 📚🐝

Literacy is more than the ability to read and spell. It gives children the confidence to communicate, the ability to understand the world around them, and the foundation to learn, think critically and create opportunities for their future.

For 40 seasons, Spelling Bee of Canada has seen firsthand the impact teachers and educators have on young learners. Behind every student who discovers the power of words is an educator who encouraged them to keep learning, keep asking questions and believe in their potential.

This World Teachers’ Day, we thank the educators across Canada and around the world who are building stronger readers, confident communicators and lifelong learners—one word at a time.

Your impact extends far beyond the classroom. Your legacy lives in every student you inspire.

Today, Spelling Bee of Canada recognizes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. 🧡🪶

As a Canadian organization dedicated to children, literacy and education, we believe learning also means understanding our country’s history, listening to Indigenous voices and reflecting on the experiences that continue to shape communities today.

We honour the children who never returned home, Survivors, their families and communities, and the histories, cultures and resilience of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples.

Through education, listening and continued learning, we can help build greater understanding and a more respectful future for the generations to come.

Every Child Matters. 🧡
